In simpler terms, “Hyper Light Breaker” is a game that offers a more intricate kind of advancement compared to games where you just dive into runs and rely on luck.

This can be rephrased as follows: This is essentially leveling up, sprinting forward, possibly meeting an end, and then leveling up repeatedly until you’ve amassed such a wealth of resources that it’s unlikely you’ll face death anytime soon.

As a gamer, I’ve stumbled upon an odd motivator for meeting my in-game demise, and in this guide, I’ll delve deeper into that intriguing aspect as well as other strategies for advancing and beefing up my character.

As a gamer, here’s my take on exploring and mastering Overgrowth: From advancing within this lush realm to enhancing my overall gaming growth, I’ll delve into strategies that promise faster strength gains. The ultimate goal? Conquering the first boss with finesse!

Explore the Overgrowth

In Hyper Light Breaker, your primary task will involve delving into the unpredictable expanses of a realm known as the Overgrowth, which you access through a portal located at the end of the central hub.

In this expansive environment, you’ll find an assortment of weapons, protective gear, and short-term enhancements. Additionally, there’s a form of currency that enables you to invest in lasting upgrades to aid you throughout all your attempts.

The most straightforward method to accomplish exploration is by locating a white map symbol, then generally moving towards it while often encountering and defeating nearby enemies to collect any treasures hidden within.

An alternative option is to aim for the locations marked as ‘Prisms’, or the yellow diamonds on your map. However, keep in mind that they will be heavily guarded by adversaries. It might be best to attempt reaching them after you’ve made a few circuits first.

Please ensure you’re mindful and attentive when selecting items that will substantially enhance your character’s build effectively.

Make sure to pick up any extra weapons, amplifiers, or armor that you won’t require, as you can later sell these unwanted items. You only need one quality sword and an excellent run to complete most rounds effectively, so having excess gear is unnecessary.

Extract Frequently

As you engage in plundering, you might notice a gently rising, curved yellow bar located at the top-left corner. This bar signifies the increasing level of danger in the environment and your current predicament’s worsening state.

As a gamer, I’d advise you to bail out early since beyond half-full, the game begins raining meteors, unleashing waves of enemies, and tossing in some seriously tough mini-bosses that aren’t much fun to battle against.

To preserve all your gathered items and avoid utilizing one of your limited Rezes, follow this strategy: Locate and travel towards the large pink marker on your mini-map, typically found on the other side of the map. This action is referred to as “extracting.

Upon arriving and turning on this location, you’ll encounter a massive group of foes including a mini-boss as the final challenge. Since your health will only receive minor healing prior to the battle, ensure that you have a good amount of vitality before venturing forth.

Buy Upgrades

Upon your return to the central station, you can utilize the earned currency to purchase an assortment of upgrades available from multiple stores. The Skill Tree, among other valuable options, is the key item to consider for your selection.

The Skill Tree is situated at your spawn location; it moves forward using Golden Rations, typically earned by rebooting the world post-boss victory or upon death for the fourth time.)

This implies that, if you only wish to acquire Golden Rations and aren’t ready to face all three bosses, it might be beneficial for you to perish with your initial equipment (starter loot) without any additional items.

In addition to that, there are separate shops where you can buy Blades, Rails, and a combination of Amps, Armor, and Holobytes. These items all use Bright Blood as currency. You’ll have the chance to refresh the shop inventory by returning to the central hub and coming back twice.

Besides improving your shopkeepers using Golden Rations, it’s not particularly beneficial to do so unless you aim to enhance Rail and Blade up to their initial affinity level. It might be wiser to save your rations for another purpose instead.

To kickstart your business, you should purchase a pair of these stores first. Once established, you’ll maintain ownership and access to them continuously. Regularly scouting shops for superior equipment remains an excellent strategy for enhancing your strength within the Overgrowth.

Loot Everything In Sight

Upon re-entering the Open World, strive to remove all icons from the map and systematically search for every item of gear, progression element, and pocket change, gathering as much as possible.

It would be advisable to gather all items near the shrine where you start, which in turn will activate another shrine at a more distant location on the map. Then, exit or complete the mission, and repeat this process until you’ve obtained everything.

You don’t have to grab every rail and blade, but it’s wise to examine them to see if they’re superior to what you’re currently using. In case they are, you might as well keep them, or even sell them for some Bright Blood.

To advance, the Prisms need to move forward, but hidden storages and depots serve as valuable resources. If you venture out, you could stumble upon a secret subterranean lab offering a plentiful supply of the coveted Golden Ratio, which also aids in rapid strength enhancement.

Fight Bosses

When you have built up enough strength to defeat common foes with just one or two blows, you’re ready to challenge a boss. However, it might be wise to tackle the one with the least prerequisites initially.

The bosses will attack you by sending numerous minor adversaries your way, each strike depleting a fourth of your health meter. Your task is to eliminate all these foes simultaneously, all while successfully dodging or blocking the main antagonist’s attacks.

It would be beneficial if you can master quick responses, as you might find it helpful to repeatedly attempt these boss battles until you understand their attack patterns and timings. For a more effective learning experience, I’d suggest giving it a go using spare equipment initially.

Once you’ve mastered the skills, you may remove them, rewarding you with exceptional, hard-to-find equipment and a unique currency exclusively used for character upgrades and certain skill tree bonuses.

On this map, you’ll encounter a total of three formidable bosses. It’s important to note that you can battle the same boss up to three times, so be prepared for frequent encounters with the ominous, blindfolded wolf man and his terrifying shockwaves.

Once you’ve conquered each of the three, you will receive a prompt that enables you to rejuvenate the world without needing to perish, which in turn rewards you with an abundance of Golden Ratios, significantly advancing your progress on the Skill Tree.

Repeat All of The Above

Once you’ve conquered every boss, or more realistically, when you’ve perished multiple times and exhausted all your Resets, you’ll find yourself returned to the central area and compelled to repay and reinitialize the world with a fresh random pattern.

In this resetting procedure, you’ll receive an allotment of Golden Rations that correlates with your performance, specifically linked to your Level, a somewhat abstract value that rises as you successfully engage in more combats.

To get all the rewards, you should explore the entire world, defeat each enemy group that comes your way (to minimize losing any revival points), defeat every boss, and earn as much money as possible along the way.

In contrast to many games, this one isn’t just about amassing points. Some attempts are poorly designed levels or seeded worlds, while others may claim your character due to formidable bosses. However, each attempt contributes to some degree of lasting improvement, implying that you grow stronger as you continue playing.

Or:

Unlike most games where it’s just about scoring points, this one offers a unique challenge. Some levels or worlds are poorly designed, while others have tough bosses that may end your character’s journey. But every attempt leads to some degree of lasting progress, meaning you become stronger as you play more and more.
