Koei Tecmo and Nintendo have announced the five characters players will be able to control in *Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment*. These include four sages and Zelda’s loyal attendant. Koei Tecmo is developing the game, and Nintendo will publish it as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive on November 6, 2025.
The next *Hyrule Warriors* game, titled *Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment*, will be the third in the spin-off series, but it’s the first one officially considered part of the main *Legend of Zelda* story. The game is set during the Imprisonment War, a key event that directly leads into the story of *The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom*. Fans are thrilled about this new installment, hoping it will add more depth and background to the popular events of *Tears of the Kingdom*.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Reveals Playable Character Details
Koei Tecmo and Nintendo have revealed more about five new characters coming to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Agraston is the leader of the Goron Tribe and also their representative as a Sage. Qia, a princess and skilled martial artist, inspires her people as the Zora Sage. Rafika leads the Rito and serves as their Sage as well. Ardi is the Gerudo Sage, but she works for Ganondorf as a member of the Gerudo Tribe. The most unique character is Lenalia, Zelda’s clever and resourceful maid.

Yasuke Hayashi, head of the studio behind the new game, shared that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment originally started as a Nintendo Switch game. However, the team later switched development to the new Nintendo Switch 2, which allowed them to significantly improve the game’s performance – increasing both the frame rate and the number of characters visible on screen at once. Hayashi also noted that this change actually made the development process more enjoyable.
As a big fan of the *Hyrule Warriors* series, I’m really hyped for *Age of Imprisonment*! The last game, *Age of Calamity*, sometimes had performance issues and wasn’t always smooth, often dropping below 30 frames per second. But from what I’ve seen of *Age of Imprisonment*, it looks like it’s going to run at a solid 60 frames per second thanks to the Switch 2 hardware. And the best part? It’s coming out in less than a month, so we won’t have to wait long to jump into the next action-packed adventure!
