Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Gets Encouraging Update

The eagerly awaited game for the upcoming Switch 2, titled “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment,” has now received a rating in Brazil, leading many to speculate that its release is drawing near. This exciting new title was unveiled during the special Nintendo Direct stream dedicated to the Switch 2 in April. In “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment,” players will have the opportunity to engage in intense battles against vast numbers of enemies, taking on the role of Princess Zelda and other beloved characters from the series.

Merging characters from the “Legend of Zelda” series with the fast-paced combat style of Koei Tecmo’s “Dynasty Warriors,” the upcoming game “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment” will share many aspects with its predecessor, “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity,” released in 2020 for Nintendo Switch. This new title is set within the storyline of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.” Nintendo has been working on this project for quite some time, as “Age of Imprisonment” was originally intended to be a launch game for the Switch. Fans may not have to wait much longer to play this action-packed game, as recent developments suggest that a 2025 release is still within reach.

A recent Twitter update by independent Nintendo analyst necrolipe suggests that the game “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment” has been given an official rating in Brazil. This usually indicates that a significant portion of the game is complete, hinting that it might debut on the Switch 2 before the year ends. The release date for “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment” remains speculative, with Nintendo only confirming its winter launch. Many believe November could be the likely month due to Nintendo’s history of releasing major titles during this period, including several previous mainline “Zelda” games. Yet, a possible early 2026 release is also a possibility.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Has Been Rated in Brazil

In a recent update, producers Ryota Matsushita and Yosuke Hayashi revealed some intriguing insights about the upcoming game, Age of Imprisonment. They mentioned that the enhanced capabilities of the Switch 2 have made it feasible for the development team to include more enemies in the game’s intense battles. Furthermore, they stated that Age of Imprisonment will deliver superior performance compared to Age of Calamity on the original Switch. Notably, unlike the first Hyrule Warriors game which frequently failed to maintain 30 FPS, the new entry is designed to run smoothly at 60 FPS on the upgraded console.

Nintendo has verified that “Age of Imprisonment” falls within the Zelda series canon, making it the first “Hyrule Warriors” title to achieve this. Although the initial trailer for the game received positive feedback from fans, there’s a lot of curiosity about when a new mainline entry in the series will be available on the yet-to-be-revealed Switch 2, as no official announcement has been made so far.
