The upcoming “Legend of Zelda” title has been revealed, yet it deviates from fan expectations despite its familiarity. The newly announced game is called “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment“, marking the third full installment in the “Hyrule Warriors” series. This game will build on what 2020’s “Age of Calamity” initiated by delving deeper into the backstory of another contemporary “Zelda” game, much like how “Breath of the Wild‘s” memory flashbacks were expanded upon. Instead, Link could find himself stepping into Calamity Ganon’s role as a significant post-game character unlockable in Age of Calamity. Given that Age of Imprisonment will need to expand upon The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s flashbacks, it’s expected that the game will incorporate new content related to its playable roster, a convention typically seen in the Warriors series.

How Age of Imprisonment Can Work More Characters Into Its Canon Story

It seems highly probable that only the characters associated with the Secret Stones in Tears of the Kingdom will be playable throughout the storyline of Age of Imprisonment, with more characters joining later once the main story is complete. However, this might not be very appealing, so it’s likely that new characters will be introduced within the story, making use of the time gap suggested between several scenes involving Dragon Tears in TotK.
