Blood Leaf is an important item used in crafting in Hytale. It’s mainly used to make health potions, so players will need to collect a lot of it if they want to have plenty of potions on hand.
Blood Leaves are one of three plants you can harvest to get Blood Petals in Hytale. These petals are needed to fully upgrade your Farmer’s Workbench to the highest tiers. Fortunately, Blood Leaves are quite common, so they’re usually not too hard to find.
How to Get Blood Leaf in Hytale
In Hytale, you can find Blood Leaf plants in three locations: the marshes of Emerald Grove (Zone 1), the snowy mountains of Whisperfrost Frontiers (Zone 3), and scattered around landmarks in the Howling Sands (Zone 2) desert. They’re easy to locate in the dark because they glow with a bright red light.
Emerald Grove
You can find Blood Leaves in the Emerald Grove by searching for areas of marshland with a dull-green color and lots of large, light-green tree tops – it should look similar to the image above. These marshy forests are mainly made up of Oak trees, with a few Ash trees scattered around. Look for Blood Leaves growing close to the base of the trees.
Certain marsh areas within the Emerald Grove are composed entirely of Ash trees, easily identified by their dark green leaves. These areas don’t contain any Blood Leaves.
Whisperfrost Frontiers
Blood Leaves are plentiful in the Whisperfrost Frontiers, especially in the snowy fir forests close to the mountains. The best way to locate them is to gain some altitude – find a high spot and scan the forests below.
Blood Leaves in Whisperfrost Frontiers grow exclusively near the mountains. While you might find fir forests scattered across the plains, they won’t contain any Blood Leaves.
Howling Sands
Blood Leaves sometimes grow on the large skeleton fossils found throughout the Howling Sands desert. You can spot these fossils on the map as symmetrical, bone-white structures that are different from the surrounding landscape.
Fossils with Blood Leaves are rare, and you usually only find one or two at each spot. If you’re collecting them, the Whisperfrost Frontiers and the Emerald Grove are the best places to search.
How to Unlock Blood Leaf Seed Recipe in Hytale
In Hytale, you can get the Blood Leaf Seed recipe by harvesting Blood Leaf plants with a Pickaxe, Hatchet, or Shears. Each harvest will give you Blood Petals, and occasionally, the recipe for a Blood Leaf Seed.
After you get this recipe, add it to your quick access bar and use the button to learn it. You’ll then be able to make a Blood Leaf Seed at a Tier 10 Farmer’s Workbench. Getting the workbench to this level requires a lot of Blood, Storm, and Azure Petals.
