Hytale Dev Has Plans to Flesh Out Its Cozy Side

I’m definitely not the only one who thinks Stardew Valley is one of the best farming simulation games out there, and I’m even more excited about Hytale now! Simon Collins-Laflamme, the founder of Hypixel Studios, just announced that the team is planning to build a dedicated group to focus on making Hytale more relaxing and cozy. As a big fan of cozy games like Stardew Valley, I’m thrilled at the possibility of Hytale heading in that direction.

Hytale has only recently entered early access, but it’s already making a strong impression. The developers are clearly dedicated to listening to their community and delivering features players want – they’ve even jokingly adopted the motto, “You ask, you receive!” The latest news confirming Hytale’s potential to become the perfect relaxing and creative game further demonstrates this commitment.

Hypixel Founder Wants to Make Hytale the Ultimate Cozy Playground

After a player named @MeltyLoo tweeted about wanting to play Hytale as it is, and mentioning they’d enjoy more detailed farming and cooking features, Collins-Laflamme (of Hytale) responded. It was a surprise to @MeltyLoo to get a reply from the studio’s founder, and even more surprising was what Collins-Laflamme had to say about the game’s potential for those cozy features.

Collins-Laflamme wants to build a team dedicated to the relaxing farming and cozy elements of the game, aiming to create the ultimate peaceful and enjoyable experience. While it will likely take a while to develop, this is exciting news for fans of games like Stardew Valley who enjoy that type of gameplay.

Hytale already lets players farm – they can prepare soil, plant seeds, and grow different crops. These crops can be used to make food and supplies for their journeys. While features like raising animals and more detailed animal interactions aren’t finished yet, they’re planned for future updates. According to recent comments from the developers, these features could become quite extensive and go beyond simple additions to the game.

How to Farm in Hytale

  • BUILD A FARMER’S WORKBENCH: This unlocks farming tools and seeds.
  • CRAFT A HOE: Use it to till dirt or grass into plantable farmland.
  • GET SEEDS: Exchange Essence of Life at the Farmer’s Workbench for seeds.
  • PLANT SEEDS: Place seeds on tilled soil to start growth.
  • WATER CROPS: Use a watering can to make them grow faster (optional but recommended).
  • HARVEST WHEN READY: Interact with mature crops to collect produce and often more Essence of Life.
  • REPEAT: Replant seeds right after harvesting to keep your farm productive.

While many players enjoy the farming aspects of Hytale, it probably won’t become a complete life simulation game like Stardew Valley. Achieving that would mean adding significant new features and potentially an entirely separate game mode. Games like Stardew Valley focus on building relationships and daily life, and Hytale seems unlikely to expand beyond offering farming as a relaxing side activity. However, the developers at Hypixel Studios have shown they listen to their community, so we can’t rule anything out completely.

As a fan of relaxing farm games like Stardew Valley, I’m really excited to hear that Hypixel is considering putting serious effort into farming and similar features. It sounds like Simon Collins-Laflamme wants to create a dedicated team focused on this slower, more laid-back style of gameplay. Hytale already has some basic farming, so this isn’t about completely changing the game – it’s about deciding which aspects deserve ongoing development. Even if Hytale doesn’t try to become a full-fledged farm life sim, the fact that the developers appreciate that type of experience and are willing to invest in it makes the game’s future much more interesting to me.
