Hytale Founder Unhappy With Game’s Mining & Outlines ‘Thousands’ of Improvements

Simon Collins-Laflamme, the creator of Hytale and head of Hypixel Studios, recently shared a significant update about the game after a successful launch into early access. He’s known for keeping fans informed through social media.

Hytale is a brand-new game with a huge variety of building materials – everything from wood and stone to copper and more. Similar to Minecraft, it will be available for a long time in early access before the full version is released. The game’s creator wants to thank players who start playing early and has shared details about the mining system and other planned features.

Hytale Needs To Be ‘More Satisfying’

Collins-Laflamme announced on X that he and the team had collected thousands of comments and suggestions from players through social media and in-game feedback forms.

I’m really excited to hear they’re listening to our feedback! It sounds like they’re planning to fix a lot of the issues we’ve been talking about. And the best part? They’re adding tons of new options to customize our avatars! If you think your character looks good now, just wait – it’s about to get a whole lot cooler with the expanded character creation tools!

We’ve collected a lot of feedback from players through social media and in-game forms, and we’re working on addressing it. We already have many quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and easy wins planned! We’re also requesting more avatar options from the art team and are quickly expanding the team to help with this and other updates. Things are very busy!

One discussion focused on mining in Hytale. Mining is a core activity, allowing you to gather the resources needed for building, repairing gear, and improving your items.

Collins-Laflamme himself has stated his personal dissatisfaction with this aspect of Hytale:

I’m looking for ideas to make mining in Hytale more enjoyable. Simply finding ores or digging long tunnels isn’t very rewarding right now. I’m thinking about giving pickaxes unique abilities and enhancing the sounds and visual effects when you mine.

Mining in Hytale is solid and will feel familiar to anyone who’s played games like Minecraft. While it works well now, the developers plan to refine it further, along with many other aspects of the game, over the coming weeks and months.

Okay, so I’ve been playing Hytale early on, and honestly, it’s got a lot of potential! But I’m curious what everyone else is loving, and what’s feeling a bit… missing? What does the game really need to improve to even start competing with Minecraft? I’m heading over to the TopMob Discord to share my thoughts and see what everyone else thinks – you should join the conversation there too!
