Hytale Mod Makes The Game Look Like Minecraft

Only a few days after its release, a Hytale player is already creating modifications to make the game resemble Minecraft. This is particularly interesting because Hytale originally began as a Minecraft server called Hypixel, making this a fitting tribute and bringing the game’s history full circle.

After a long and difficult development process that included being canceled and then brought back thanks to fan support, Hytale was finally released in early access this week. The game quickly gained popularity, with players sharing positive feedback online. Early access sales have already secured funding for the next two years of development, and sales are expected to keep growing. While Hytale is successful on its own, it’s noticeable that it shares similarities with Minecraft, and the two games are being compared. However, some players believe that simply having a few things in common isn’t enough to make the games alike.

This Hytale Mod Makes it Look Like Minecraft, But It’s Not Quite Ready Yet

A Hytale player, LucyLavend, shared a mod they’re working on that makes the game look more like Minecraft. They’re simplifying the textures to be less detailed, aiming for a similar visual style. While still in development, they plan to release it on CurseForge once it’s fully functional. The results are impressive – aside from the game’s interface, it’s hard to tell the difference between Hytale and Minecraft. Given that Hytale has often been compared to Minecraft anyway, this mod reinforces those similarities.

People in the discussion playfully suggested creating a Minecraft mod that mimics Hytale, essentially reversing the roles. One user even proposed a more elaborate idea: unique items and a portal leading to Minecraft where players could experience its content, rather than simply replacing Hytale elements with Minecraft ones. It’s currently unknown if the mod creator, LucyLavend, intends to implement these features, but it will be interesting to follow the mod’s development.

From the beginning, Hytale has emphasized its commitment to modders, a promise recently restated by Hypixel Studios’ founder, Simon Collins-Laflamme. Considering the game originated from a modded Minecraft server, it’s natural they’d quickly support modding. However, Hytale modding is still new, and it will likely take time before we see its full potential. Minecraft itself is a great example of what modders can accomplish when given a good platform.

Even though players are already creating their own improvements for Hytale, the game’s developers, Hypixel Studios, are quickly releasing updates too. They recently added dinosaurs to jungle areas in the first major update. This patch also included several smaller improvements, and it’s exciting to see new content being added so early in the game’s development. We can expect many more updates in the coming months as Hytale gains popularity.
