It’s only been about a week since Hytale entered early access, and the developers are already releasing a second update! Players have been eagerly requesting the ability to hide helmets and armor, and Hypixel Studios founder Simon Collins-Laflamme has announced on X that this feature will be included in Hytale Update 2, coming later this week.
Hytale is a unique RPG game created by Hypixel Studios. It combines the freedom of building and exploring a vast world with classic RPG elements like fighting and character development. The game is now available in early access, and the developers plan to build upon it with new content and improvements based on what players think, ultimately leading to a complete release.
Hytale Update 2 Will Let Players Hide Their Helm and Armor
Recently, Hypixel Studios founder Simon hinted at the upcoming Hytale Update 2 on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that it will let players hide helmets and armor on their characters. He stated, “Community asks? Community receives!” showing the studio’s commitment to improving the game based on player feedback. Simon also confirmed the feature will be customizable, allowing server administrators to control how it functions, particularly in player-versus-player combat.
This change may seem minor, but it’s something players have been asking for consistently since the early access launch of Hytale. Currently, when you put on a helmet or armor, it covers up your character’s appearance – things like their face, hair, and outfit. This is particularly annoying for players who bought a special version of Hytale because of the cosmetic items it included.
As Simon mentioned, the team definitely knew about this problem – they’ve been seeing feedback on social media, forums, and platforms like Reddit. For example, a Reddit user named Frostiikin posted about their frustration right after Hytale launched in early access, and hundreds of other players agreed. Many players feel that the game’s customization options are pointless if you can’t actually see your character after making changes.
Players are also requesting the option to hide helmets and armor because many other role-playing and sandbox games let them customize how their character’s gear looks. These games usually let players show off their style while still benefiting from the armor’s protection, and it’s become a common feature in games with detailed character customization. Currently, Hytale doesn’t offer this, putting it behind the curve.
When thinking about why players couldn’t hide their helmets and armor at the beginning of Hytale, it’s important to understand how visuals impact gameplay. Seeing another player’s armor quickly shows you how dangerous they might be, which is helpful when playing with or against others. Because of this, Simon and the team at Hypixel Studios designed the option to hide helmets and armor to be controlled by each individual server, allowing worlds to customize how characters look and maintain the level of visual information they prefer.
Before the release of Hytale Update 2, many players used modifications to hide certain armor parts without losing the benefits those parts provided. Now that Update 2 is coming soon, the Hytale community can expect even more options to personalize their gameplay.
