‘I Have to Literally Grief My Teammates’ Battlefield 6 Support Challenge Criticized by Fans

Players of Battlefield 6 are upset about a challenge that’s causing them to intentionally hinder their teammates. The challenge requires players to obscure their teammates’ vision using smoke grenades, which many find frustrating and counterproductive.

Even though some players are still unhappy with certain issues, Battlefield 6 has been a huge hit. After the disappointing launch of Battlefield 2042, the series really needed to get back on track, and it looks like EA and Battlefield Studios have done just that. The game quickly sold millions of copies and attracted a large player base on all platforms.

Battlefield 6 Support Challenges Are Forcing Players To Make Teammates’ Lives Harder

A Reddit user named Fehzi recently pointed out a strange issue with a Battlefield 6 Support challenge. To complete the third tier, players need to get “smoke assists” – meaning teammates have to get kills while inside the smoke from their grenades. While this can happen naturally during gameplay, some players are deliberately throwing smoke grenades on their teammates to try and quickly complete the challenge. Fehzi notes that this strategy might actually prevent those teammates from getting the kill, making it counterproductive.

Other players have noted the core issue lies with the challenge itself. It’s easy to mistakenly think assists from kills through smoke count, especially in modes like Breakthrough in Battlefield 6 where enemies usually approach from a single direction. However, the challenge actually requires a teammate to be inside the smoke, with limited visibility, to get the kill. With many players attempting this, it could seriously disrupt gameplay for everyone.

It’s unclear if the developers at Battlefield Studios will address this issue in a future update, as they’re currently working on other things. They recently updated some challenges in Battlefield 6, including significant changes to class-specific ones. However, the team has proven they’re willing to listen to player feedback, so a change to this particular challenge could happen if enough players want it.
