Despite some of his recent remarks, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, maintains a fondness for Gearbox’s leader, Randy Pitchford.
During a recent conversation, Zelnick was inquired about Pitchford’s latest remarks, including his statement to a supporter suggesting they’d shell out $80 for Borderlands 4 if it indeed cost that much, given their alleged devotion to the series.
For Zelnick, that’s just part of Pitchford’s “big personality”
In a statement to IGN, Zelnick expressed his deep affection for Randy. ‘I must admit, I adore him,’ he said. ‘His larger-than-life personality is captivating, and his passion is unmatched. He’s truly one of the greatest game creators of all time. While he can stir up controversy at times, intentional or not, my admiration for him remains undiminished.’
In response to the “real fans” remark, Pitchford clarified that his intention was not to cause harm through his words. He also recognized that the players might be feeling agitated due to the rise in prices.
Moving forward to the topic of Borderlands 4, which marks the first main series installment since Borderlands 3 in 2019, it’s worth noting that its base edition retains the standard $70 price point that has been prevalent for quite some time now. The game is slated to drop on September 12 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. Interestingly, the Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow closely behind on October 3.
