I Physically Need WWE 2K25’s Showcase to Feature The Bloodline

I Physically Need WWE 2K25's Showcase to Feature The Bloodline

As a longtime WWE fan with a deep appreciation for storytelling and the art of professional wrestling, I can’t help but be utterly captivated by the Bloodline saga. Having witnessed Roman Reigns’ rise to tribal chief and the intricacies of The Usos, Sami Zayn, Solo Sikoa, and Cody Rhodes’ involvement, I feel like I’ve lived every moment of this epic tale.

I’m deeply invested in Cody Rhodes and his wrestling journey. From being an underdog to establishing himself as a formidable force, I’ve been moved by every step of his transformation. I’ve cheered him on through the struggles, attended both Royal Rumble victories, and even joined the #WeWantCody movement. My wife has put up with countless discussions about Roman Reigns and The Rock. So when Cody Rhodes was announced as one of the Cover Stars for WWE 2K24, alongside Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair, I was elated. I did feel a pang of disappointment, however, when his Showcase in WWE 2K24 ended with a loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. While I knew it was part of the game, I couldn’t help but be a little disappointed.

One day, I’m hoping to see Cody Rhodes grace the cover once more or have an extensive feature called “The American Nightmare” in the next installment of WWE 2K. I don’t believe it will be WWE 2K25 since he was already the cover star this year. While it’s possible for him to repeat as the cover athlete, like he did at the Royal Rumble, I don’t think that will happen. I’m eagerly anticipating who will be chosen for the cover and what the Showcase has in store, as well as all the other enhancements Visual Concepts brings. However, there is one thing I truly crave – a Bloodline Showcase. The timing feels particularly right for it now.

Why WWE 2K25 Needs to Acknowledge Roman Reigns and The Bloodline

I Physically Need WWE 2K25's Showcase to Feature The Bloodline

In simpler terms, I believe there are two main explanations for this situation. The first reason is related to mechanics, specifically the repetition of playing as Rey Mysterio in every match during the WWE 2K22 Showcase. While enjoyable, it became monotonous and cannot be repeated too frequently. The developers addressed this issue by allowing players to assume roles other than Rey Mysterio in WWE 2K23, offering more diversity. In the Bloodline Showcase of WWE 2K24, there’s a larger selection of characters for players to choose from (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn, and Solo Sikoa), providing some relief from the repetition. The second reason is futureproofing, ensuring that games remain engaging by introducing new content and mechanics over time.

The saga of The Bloodline continues to unfold, showing no signs of wrapping up anytime soon. With each new addition, it grows more complex and extensive, much like how WrestleMania has expanded over the decades. Just as we’ve seen editions like “WrestleMania 2K14: Thirty Years of WrestleMania” and “WWE 2K24: Forty Years of WrestleMania,” it’s reasonable to assume that at some point, “WWE 2K34” or another installment may feature “Fifty Years of WrestleMania.” In essence, the epic tale of The Bloodline could reach such monumental proportions that it might eventually demand its own comprehensive presentation. Considering the magnitude of the Bloodline’s pivotal moment at WrestleMania 40, which was reminiscent of “Avengers: Endgame,” it seems that setting up the next chapter requires thoughtful planning and patience.

The New Bloodline is An Interesting New Story

The Bloodline saga is apparently entering its second act in WWE storytelling. The first part, which spans from Roman Reigns’ SummerSlam return in 2020 and his loss at WrestleMania 40, can be considered as Phase One. Solo Sikoa’s emergence of the New Bloodline, Reigns’ presumed return at SummerSlam 2024, a potential Bloodline reunion leading to a Bloodline vs. Bloodline clash at Survivor Series, and ultimately, a Rock versus Roman match at WrestleMania 41, all seem to be promising elements of this second phase. Though the exact path of this new Bloodline narrative remains uncertain, one thing is clear: it feels like a fresh story unfolding.

Best Possible Bloodline Matches for WWE 2K25

It’s quite a challenge to condense four years of outstanding Bloodline rule into a Showcase. However, if I must choose, I prefer the following matches for their exceptional quality and diversity.

  • Roman Reigns vs. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Braun Strowman in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat Match (Payback 2020)
    • The match that started his Historic Reign
  • Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso in a Hell in a Cell I Quit Match (Hell in a Cell 2020)
    • The match that started the Bloodline
  • The Usos vs. Rey and Dom Mysterio (Money in the Bank 2021 Kickoff)
    • The Usos win the SD Belts and would eventually unify them to become Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champs
  • Roman Reigns vs. John Cena (SummerSlam 2021)
    • Reigns Would “Leave” WWE if he could not beat Cena
  • Roman Reigns vs. “The Demon” Finn Balor in an Extreme Rules Match (Extreme Rules 2021)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins (Royal Rumble 2022)
    • Yes, Reigns lost via DQ, but this rivalry is an important underlying element of The Bloodline
  • The Usos vs. The Street Profits (MITB 2022)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre (Clash at the Castle 2022)
    • The main roster and Bloodline debut of Solo Sikoa
  • Roman Reigns vs. Logan Paul (Crown Jewel 2022)
  • The Bloodline (including Sami) vs. Team Brawling Brutes (Survivor Series 2022)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens (Royal Rumble 2023)
    • A turning point in the Sami Zayn Bloodline Saga
  • Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn (Elimination Chamber 2023)
    • One of the most hyped matches in Bloodline History
  • Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. The Usos (WrestleMania 39)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes (WrestleMania 39)
  • The Usos vs. Roman Reigns/Solo Sikoa (Money in the Bank 2023)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso (SummerSlam 2023)
  • Solo Sikoa vs. John Cena (Crown Jewel 2023)
  • Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight (Crown Jewel 2023)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. LA Knight (Royal Rumble 2024)
  • The Rock and Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins (WrestleMania 40)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes in a Bloodline Rules Match (WrestleMania 40)
    • Yes, Roman loses here, marking the end of this Bloodline story. It could come to an end with a big THANK YOU ROMAN.

Imagine if this was also narrated by Roman himself or, better yet,
Paul Heyman
.

In essence, the entire Bloodline saga reached all its significant milestones with a powerful conclusion, thanks to Roman’s excellent execution. Given the potential of the second storyline to continue thriving, a dedicated game seems inevitable for “WWE 2K: Bloodline 2.” With so much content to explore and expand upon, it would be overwhelming to include everything in one go. I’d undoubtedly shed tears while facing Cody Rhodes in this game, but I also recognize the importance of acknowledging my Tribal Chief and The Bloodline’s tale. Regardless of what follows, I’m ready and eager for a game that does justice to the critically acclaimed Bloodline story – a must-have for both fans and developers alike.
