New information suggests the next Nintendo Switch, likely launching in summer 2026, will be a major event for the company. While the current Switch hasn’t even been out for a year, it’s already known for its strong collection of games you can’t play anywhere else.
When the Nintendo Switch 2 launched, Mario Kart World was available right away. Just over a month later, Donkey Kong Bananza, a critically praised game nominated for Game of the Year, was released. Over the following months, more games exclusive to the Switch 2 came out, including Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Kirby Air Riders, both of which generally received good reviews. In 2026, Switch 2 owners enjoyed games like Mario Tennis Fever and the hugely popular Pokemon Pokopia, which is considered the highest-rated Pokemon game of all time and one of the system’s best-selling titles.
As of right now, the only Switch 2 game with a confirmed release date is Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which is coming out on May 21st. But, things are getting really exciting! There have been some pretty reliable leaks suggesting Nintendo is planning a huge summer in 2026 for the Switch 2. We might get a new Fire Emblem game called Fortune’s Weave, a follow-up to Nintendo Switch Sports, a Switch 2 version of Pikmin 4, Splatoon Raiders, and – this is the one I’m really excited about – a brand new Star Fox game that’s supposed to feel like the classic ones! It’s all just rumors for now, but it sounds incredible if it’s true.
All Switch 2 Games Rumored for Summer 2026
- Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
- New Nintendo Switch Sports Game
- Pikmin 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
- Splatoon Raiders
- Star Fox
While rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2 should be taken with a grain of salt, there’s a good chance we’ll see several new games released this summer. Nintendo usually releases one big game each month, so it’s likely that titles like Star Fox, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and Splatoon Raiders will be spaced out between late June and mid-September. We might also see games like Nintendo Switch Sports (either a Switch 2 version or a completely new game) and Pikmin 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition released during that time.
There’s talk that Rhythm Heaven Groove might come out this summer as well. It will work on the new Switch 2 thanks to backwards compatibility, but Nintendo hasn’t confirmed if they’re making a special version for it yet.
Rumors suggest Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave might be pushed back to 2027, so fans should be aware of that possibility. The same sources also claim The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is getting a remake for the Switch 2 this holiday season, and it will be exciting to see if these reports turn out to be accurate.
Okay, so everyone’s guessing Nintendo will do a big Direct presentation in June, and it sounds like they’ll finally show us what they’ve got planned for the rest of 2026 and even further out. If the leaks are true, we’re talking reveals for all the games people have been speculating about! But you never know for sure. While we wait, at least we have Yoshi and the Mysterious Book to keep us busy until we get more details on the next Switch – the Switch 2, basically.
