Capcom has cautioned players that mods used in previous Monster Hunter games may not function correctly when the new Wilds update launches.
Game updates are now unavoidable, whether you’re playing a single-player or online game. With PC gaming being so widespread, mods have become incredibly popular too. This creates problems when updates and mods clash – updates can disable mods, like what happened with Fallout 4’s Anniversary Edition and caused a delay for the Fallout: London mod, or mods can make the game unstable after an update.
Capcom has advised Monster Hunter Wilds players on Twitter that mods or other unofficial programs may not work with the game and could cause it to crash or fail to start. If you experience any issues, Capcom recommends removing all mods, verifying the game files are intact, and then trying to launch the game again.
So, Capcom is recommending we all make sure our graphics drivers are up to date before playing! If you’ve got an NVIDIA card, they say version 581.57 or newer is best. For AMD Radeon users, 25.9.1 or higher should do the trick, but they did mention that version 25.10.2 has a few problems, so maybe skip that one for now.
This update should hopefully improve the game’s performance, which Monster Hunter Wilds really needs after a rocky year. Capcom has said the fixes will come in three parts leading up to the February update, so I’m cautiously optimistic. If Capcom can resolve these issues before the G-Rank expansion releases, that would be fantastic.
