As someone who’s been following Incursion Red River since its early days at Steam Next Fest, I can confidently say that this 1.1.0.0 update is like finding a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. The team at Games of Tomorrow has outdone themselves with this massive overhaul, and it feels like we’re moving from an alpha product to a game that’s ready to take on the big leagues.
Incursion Red River has recently undergone a massive overhaul with its version 1.1.0.0 update, which significantly expands the capabilities of its alpha release. This update introduces numerous refinements and enhancements to the unique single-player and cooperative extraction shooter that garnered attention since April 2024.
During February’s Steam Next Fest, I had a chance to try out Incursion Red River, and its stunning visuals and the promise of the project left me amazed. Frankly, I can hardly wait to see what version 1.1.0.0 has in store, as it seems like even more incredible features are being added.
Big Changes
Incursion Red River hasn’t garnered the same level of attention as other extraction shooters like Escape from Tarkov, largely because it isn’t primarily focused on player versus player (PvP) combat. However, this shouldn’t deter you. It’s an exceptional game that has been captivating gamers globally for months, even though it’s currently in the alpha stage.
In their initial blog post about the game, the team from Games of Tomorrow detailed the extensive 1.1.0.0 update, an expansion so substantial it seemed almost ready for beta testing.
The core of the update features a brand-new map called Bunker, which is designed as a tight, gloomy setting that will make players startle at every shadow while they explore an underground facility, searching for the game’s most valuable treasures. Meanwhile, Quarry has been significantly revamped to more accurately convey the atmosphere of being in a lush, tropical environment.
In the latest update version 1.1.0.0, an array of fresh weapons and accessories have been introduced, along with significant improvements to the AI controlling the game’s adversaries. Additionally, new voice lines have enhanced the game’s immersive aspects, while Games of Tomorrow has incorporated a brand-new medical system into the gameplay.
But that’s not all:
- New animations
- ‘Key’ system
- Penetration system and enhanced ballistics
- New bosses
- New tasks
- Barter expansion
- Inventory enhancements
It’s looking good for Incursion Red River, per the team’s update in the Steam blog post:
As we move towards the close of 2024, we’re committed to wrapping up the tasks on our initial plan. But rest assured, we’ll share a refreshed plan for 2025 with you soon. To keep things clear, we intend to stick to our previously announced six-month release cycle since it fits well with our team size and project range, ensuring each update brings valuable content and enhancements. We’ll also continue to provide monthly development updates to keep you informed. See you all later!
