Indycar and iRacing have announced that a brand new console game is coming in 2026.
In a statement on Tuesday, iRacing announced that their game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam starting in the latter part of 2026. This version of the game will be powered by Orontes, their own in-house engine. A specialized team within the company will be responsible for its development.
According to iRacing Studios’ president, Tony Gardner, their independent INDYCAR game promises an exhilarating experience akin to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, catering to fans of all ages. He expressed great anticipation about the development process, stating that they are already thrilled with the game’s progress.
Gardner stated: “Over the past few years, our company has expanded substantially by welcoming new development squads and studios. One of these new teams will be solely dedicated to our INDYCAR title. While this game will feature components like car and track resources, technology, and driving traits derived from other iRacing Studio projects.
The developers have shared that real-life IndyCar teams, along with their drivers such as Scott McLaughlin, will play significant roles in shaping the game’s development process.
McLaughlin expressed his excitement about being involved in the creation of iRacing Studio’s latest INDYCAR game. He was proud to collaborate with a team known for creating outstanding products, as they were preparing INDYCAR’s first dedicated title in quite some time.”
