Insider Provides Bloodborne Update, and It’s Not Good

According to industry expert Jeff Grubb, his sources indicate that there are currently no plans to remake or update *Bloodborne*. This news is likely disappointing for fans who have been hoping for a modernized version of the game.

Since its release in 2015, Bloodborne has been limited to 30 frames per second, leading to years of rumors about a possible re-release. These rumors have surfaced and died down many times, but recently, in January 2025, Sony took down a fan-made mod that improved the game to 60 frames per second. This action sparked hope that Sony might finally be working on an official update to modernize the game, as it showed they were paying attention to what fans were creating.

All Quiet on the Bloodborne Front, Insider Says

Jeff Grubb says a remake or PC port of *Bloodborne* isn’t in development. Speaking on the Game Mess Decides podcast on September 18th, Grubb stated he’d recently checked with his sources and heard no progress on the 2015 game. This is his first update on *Bloodborne* in over a year, following his previous report in June 2024 where he also downplayed the chances of a remaster or PC version.

Grubb’s recent comments relate to the expected PlayStation State of Play event, which is currently predicted for late September 2025. He was discussing how likely it is that we’ll hear news about *Bloodborne* at the show. There’s also been talk in the industry that this event might reveal more Xbox games coming to PlayStation, with *Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024* and *Starfield* being frequently mentioned as potential titles.

It doesn’t look like a remake or remaster of *Bloodborne* is likely to happen anytime soon. A few years ago, people thought Sony might be hesitant to work on it without the original developers, FromSoftware. However, the successful 2020 remake of *Demon’s Souls* – which FromSoftware didn’t develop, but was instead handled by Bluepoint Games and the now-closed Japan Studio – suggests that’s probably not the reason anymore.

I checked up on Bloodborne not too long ago, and honestly, I haven’t heard a peep about any progress. So, yeah, I wouldn’t get your hopes up for that one.

Several popular PlayStation games, including *Demon’s Souls*, *Bloodborne*, and *Gran Turismo 7*, haven’t yet been released on PC. Recent reports from early 2025 indicate that PC versions of *Demon’s Souls* and *Gran Turismo 7* aren’t currently being developed. However, Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of FromSoftware, stated in June 2024 that the team would be happy to see *Bloodborne* come to PC and he personally supports the idea.
