Insomniac’s Wolverine Game Officially Has a PS5 Release Date

Insomniac Games announced today that Marvel’s Wolverine will be released on September 15, 2026. Similar to their Spider-Man games, Marvel’s Wolverine will be available only on PlayStation 5 when it launches.

Marvel’s Wolverine was initially revealed during the PlayStation Showcase in September 2021, alongside the announcement of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. While Spider-Man 2 received a gameplay trailer in May 2023 and launched in October that year, we didn’t see Wolverine gameplay until the September 2025 State of Play. Insomniac Games finally showed off Wolverine’s gameplay during the event and confirmed the game is slated for release in Fall 2026.

Marvel’s Wolverine Officially Launches September 15, 2026

The release date for Marvel’s Wolverine – September 15, 2026 – was revealed unexpectedly. Instead of a traditional announcement, Insomniac Games shared a short, six-second video on their Bluesky, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube channels. The video simply stated, “Let’s cut to the chase: Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026,” and included a link to add the game to your PlayStation Store wishlist.

PlayStation typically announces release dates for its big, self-published games during events like a State of Play presentation or through a post on the PlayStation Blog. These announcements usually include a new trailer. For example, the release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – October 20, 2023 – was revealed at Summer Game Fest 2023, and was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer.

What a September Release Date Means for Marvel’s Wolverine

Although technically launching within the summer, Marvel’s Wolverine is arriving sooner than many anticipated, considering its initial Fall 2026 target. This new September 15th release date is ideal, giving the game over two months before the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 arrives on November 19th. Marvel’s Wolverine will also launch just six days after Phantom Blade Zero, a long-awaited action RPG for PlayStation 5 and PC. Currently, the only other major game scheduled for September 2026 is IllFonic’s Halloween, a multiplayer horror game based on the popular franchise.

The potential release date of September 15, 2026 hints that we might see Marvel’s Wolverine relatively soon, possibly revealed during an upcoming Sony State of Play event – perhaps one focused entirely on the game. Before it launches, players can likely anticipate learning more about the game’s story and getting a more detailed look at how it plays.
