Intel Tackles 1440p Gaming with Next Gen Arc B580, Arc B570 GPUs

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say, Intel’s foray into the GPU market with their Arc B-series GPUs is nothing short of intriguing! With their focus on 1440p gaming and the integration of cutting-edge technologies like XeSS 2 and XMX AI, it seems they are aiming to shake up the market.

Intel has formally introduced its upcoming Arc series of graphics processors, specifically, the Arc B580 and B570. At this point, it appears that only these two GPUs are part of the current lineup. These new GPUs are primarily aimed at delivering a superior gaming experience at 1440p resolution. The Arc B-series incorporates cutting-edge Intel technologies such as XeSS 2 for enhanced super sampling and XMX AI for boosted AI tasks. According to Intel, the new GPUs exhibit approximately 70% greater performance per Xe-core and around 50% better efficiency in terms of power consumption when compared to their previous generation.

Intel Arc B-Series GPUs: Specifications and Features

The Intel Arc A-series graphics cards deliver an affordable gaming experience in both 1080p and 1440p resolutions, while the new B-series continues this trend by providing top-tier value for the price, making it a practical choice for many gamers. These latest GPUs are constructed using Intel’s most recent Xe2 architecture, which incorporates second-generation Xe-cores and powerful XMX AI engines for enhanced performance.

With the introduction of the latest Xe-cores, Intel’s advanced technology called XeSS 2 has been activated. XeSS 2 encompasses XeSS Super Resolution, XeSS Frame Generation, and Xe Low Latency. Notably, Nvidia and AMD also have similar technologies available. The AI-driven Frame Generation is a key component of this trio, delivering a top-tier gaming experience at 1440p resolution when utilized together.

Intel Arc B580

The Arc B580 model stands out for its performance-oriented design, featuring 20 Xe cores, 20 RT units, a clock speed of 2670 MHz, and 12GB GDDR6 VRAM. It also carries a TBP (Total Board Power) of 190W. Remarkably, despite having more RAM, it includes fewer Xe cores and Intel XMX engines compared to its predecessor, the Arc A580 from the previous generation. However, these latest cores offer improved performance and efficiency over their earlier counterparts.

Intel asserts that the Arc B580 outperforms the more expensive Arc A750 by approximately 24% on average at 1440p resolution, with certain games achieving a boost of up to 78%. When compared to other graphics cards within the $250-$300 price range, Intel suggests that the Arc B580 provides up to 32% improved performance-to-cost ratio.

The cost of the GPU is set at $259. Various brands such as Acer, ASRock, GUNNIR, ONIX Technology, MAXSUN, and Sparkle will be producing their versions of this card, which will become available from December 13. In fact, many of these partners have already put up product pages for the Arc B580 and B570 GPUs on their websites.

Intel Arc B570

As a dedicated enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the newly introduced Arc B570 packs a punch with 18 Xe cores and 18 RT units, backed by an impressive 10GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Clocking in at 2500 MHz, this powerhouse can handle a maximum power draw of 150W, ensuring efficient performance. Although the Xe core count and RT units are slightly lower than the previous Arc A570, they still outshine the Arc A380 GPU significantly. Moreover, the Arc B570 boasts more VRAM than both its predecessors. Given the enhanced number of cores and anticipated performance enhancements per core, I’m optimistic that the Arc B570 will deliver performance on par with the A580, if not surpassing it.

The Intel Arc B570, priced at $219, is set to hit the shelves through our trusted board partners beginning on January 16, 2025.

To note, the WEELIAO GUNNIR Intel Arc B580 Graphics Card is available on Amazon currently priced at $379. This cost is noticeably higher than the price set by Intel. The graphics processing unit (GPU) features a dual-fan cooling system and an all-black design, without any RGB lighting.
