One of the biggest reveals at last December’s The Game Awards was the announcement of Naughty Dog’s latest project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which was a big departure from the studio’s past works that were more grounded.
It appears there’s a fresh whisper going around, suggesting that the inspiration behind Intergalactic’s latest project may be unexpected and dissimilar to their previous titles.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Compared To Elden Ring

During the recent MinnMax broadcast, Ben Hanson, the founder, casually brought up that Intergalactic has been compared to Elden Ring – a title widely considered as FromSoftware’s greatest hit, with sales reaching into the millions and numerous Game of the Year accolades under its belt.
MinnMax’s Ben Hanson: “I’ve heard Naughty Dog’s next game is very inspired by a game with a lot of player freedom […] Elden Ring is what it was compared to […] It’s taking place on one planet, uncovering the history of this world, you can kinda see a little bit where they might be going with that,” Hanson states (via Kami)
While it’s not confirmed that Intergalactic is a game similar to the Souls series, it’s an intriguing comparison to consider, given the lack of specific details about Intergalactic, and there’s no indication that Naughty Dog will discuss it soon.
The latest details from Intergalactic we know is that it’s inspired by anime classics such as Akira and Cowboy Bebop, and its plot touches on religion, which is sure to be a controversial topic.
The story synosis from Sony about Intergalactic reads, “Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.”
No word yet on when we’ll get a full gameplay reveal, but the game is set for release on the PS5.
