Summary
- Invincible Season 3 features many references to The Walking Dead through characters and Easter eggs.
- Mark Grayson’s violent act in the finale pays homage to Rick Grimes’ brutal moment in TWD.
- The upcoming Season 4 of Invincible could provide even more Easter eggs for fans to discover.
The third season of the series “Invincible” made its debut on Prime Video on February 6, 2025. Throughout its previous seasons, viewers have spotted numerous references to “The Walking Dead”. Given that the creator of “Invincible” is also the mastermind behind the “Walking Dead” comics, it’s no surprise that the animated series enjoys incorporating Easter eggs from the popular post-apocalyptic series. Additionally, several actors from the AMC show, which aired from 2010 to 2022, can be found in Kirkman’s superhero adventure.
In the episodes of “The Walking Dead”, allusions to the series “Invincible” are subtly incorporated as well. For instance, Carl (Chandler Riggs) is seen reading comic books similar to “Invincible”, characters like Allen the Alien and Omni-Man are depicted in toys that Sam plays with, and t-shirts bearing Invincible themes can be spotted. One of the most striking Easter eggs from the animated series thus far is Negan (Jeffery Dean Morgan), a character from “TWD”, appearing in season 3 to play Conquest. This results in an amusing scene where the protagonist of “Invincible”, voiced by Steven Yeun, gets his long-awaited chance for revenge against Negan, who is responsible for the death of his character Glenn in “The Walking Dead”. In the season 3 finale’s brutal and intense confrontation between the two, a reference to Rick Grimes’ most brutal moment from “TWD” can be found. This time, it serves as a nod to that significant event.
Invincible Season 3’s Bloody Battle Sees Mark Pay Homage to Rick Grimes’ Violent Act

In the intense climactic fight between Mark and Conquest in Season 3 of “Invincible”, our hero was struggling against the seasoned Viltrumite warrior. However, to gain an advantage and ultimately subdue the brutal conflict, Mark resorted to a desperate move – biting into Conquest’s shoulder, which allowed him to break free from the villain’s iron grip. This grisly action by Mark subtly echoes one of Rick Grimes’ most violent scenes in “The Walking Dead”, where he leapt into action to protect his son Carl by sinking his teeth into Joe’s neck, ripping out a portion of his throat, and spitting out a gush of blood onto the ground.
In a shockingly harsh yet justified move, Rick’s actions against the ruthless Claimers allowed Carl and Michonne to escape unharmed and continue living. This pivotal moment in “The Walking Dead” has been etched into the show’s annals as one of its most brutal and startling scenes, rivaled only by Glenn’s demise at the hands of Negan. Reminiscent of Rick’s approach, Mark from “Invincible” seems to hold similar values when it comes to subduing foes and is willing to go to extreme lengths to safeguard those he cares about.
The third season of the series “Invincible” comprises eight episodes, culminating in its final episode released on March 13, 2025. Excitingly, this show has been officially renewed for a fourth season, so fans should stay tuned to catch more Easter eggs inspired by “The Walking Dead” when it resumes.
