Okay, so this is kinda rough news for fans of Iron Galaxy Studios. They just announced another round of layoffs. Basically, they posted on LinkedIn saying they’re restructuring the studio to deal with how things are in the gaming industry right now, and they’re treating these tough times as the new normal. It’s never good to see a studio downsizing like this, and I hope everyone affected lands on their feet.
Iron Galaxy was founded in August 2008 by Dave Lang. The studio began as a support team, primarily working on porting popular games to and from PC. For many years, they focused on this type of work, bringing titles like Batman: Arkham Asylum, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, Fortnite, and recent Sony PC ports such as The Last of Us Part 1 & 2 and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection to new platforms. Over the past 18 years, Iron Galaxy has also created a few original games, including Rumbleverse and their latest release, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. While Rumbleverse didn’t find lasting success, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 received positive reviews, earning an average score of 83 from critics on OpenCritic.
Iron Galaxy Suffers Another Round of Layoffs
Iron Galaxy Studios recently announced another round of layoffs in a post on LinkedIn. The company stated that several employees were affected as they reorganize to better fit the current video game market. They expressed sadness about the job losses and explained that this change is necessary for the studio to move forward.
The post details how Iron Galaxy has constantly evolved to keep up with the video game industry’s shifts over the past few decades, regularly adjusting its goals and team size. They’ve observed significant changes in the industry itself. According to the post, 2020 marked a turning point for game development, likely due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. While many hoped for a return to pre-pandemic norms, Iron Galaxy now believes these new market conditions are here to stay and they need to adapt accordingly.
Iron Galaxy explained the reasons for the recent layoffs in a LinkedIn post, saying:
People are playing games differently now, and publishers are looking for different things when they fund new projects. This shift is affecting everyone we work with. As Iron Galaxy moves forward, we’re facing tough choices about the future of the company. Unfortunately, we can’t maintain our current team size, even after the reductions we made last year.

The recent layoffs follow previous cuts at Iron Galaxy, which were announced in February 2025 via a LinkedIn post. That earlier announcement explained that the game Rumbleverse was being discontinued and that the layoffs were a final attempt to save the studio. Those cuts impacted 66 employees. The number of employees affected by the latest round of layoffs is currently unknown.
