Ball X Pit is a surprisingly strong contender for Game of the Year awards, impressing players with its fresh approach to the classic block-breaking style of gameplay. If you’re interested in playing, it’s worth checking if it’s available on Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus – you could save some money!
I’ve been playing block breaker games since I was a kid with those classics from the 80s, and even more recently with Bust-A-Bloc on the PS2! It’s amazing how the basic idea – usually bouncing a ball or two around – has stayed around for so long. But now, Ball X Pit is really shaking things up! It’s cool to see a single developer, Kenny Sun, taking a page from other successful indie creators like Baltotr (LocalThunk) and Billy Basso (Animal Well) to make something totally new.
Ball X Pit quickly became a hit, earning fantastic reviews and attracting a huge number of players. If you’re interested in joining the fun, checking it out through Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus is a great way to start.
Can You Play Ball X Pit Free On Xbox Game Pass?
You can play Ball X Pit for free if you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership right now.
Okay, so Wave 1 of the October 2025 Game Pass games dropped, and I was stoked to see Ball X Pit included! Seriously, as an indie dev, you couldn’t ask for better exposure than having your game available for free to all those Game Pass subscribers. It’s huge publicity!
This allows all eyes to be on Ball X Pit, and plenty of those eyes will turn into players.
The conversation around Game Pass hasn’t been positive lately. The founder of Xbox called the recent price increases ‘greed over gaming,’ and there are concerns Microsoft could still make the situation even more difficult.
Just wanted to let you guys know, if you’re still a subscriber, you can jump into Ball X Pit – and a ton of other games – completely free! It’s one of the perks of staying subscribed, and I’m really enjoying it.
Can You Play Ball X Pit Free On PlayStation Plus?
While Ball X Pit isn’t available to download for free with PlayStation Plus like it is on Xbox, PlayStation Plus Premium members can try it out with a one-hour free trial before deciding if they want to purchase it.
Ball X Pit isn’t currently available with any PlayStation Plus subscription (Essentials, Extra, or Premium). But you can try it out for free for one hour on PS5 – think of it as a longer demo. Because the game is so addictive, you’ll probably want to keep playing after the trial!
Should you opt for a full purchase, it will still only set you back $14.99.
If you’ve had a chance to play Ball X Pit – maybe through Game Pass or PlayStation Plus – we’d love to hear your thoughts!
