Is Borderlands 4 Coming to Xbox Game Pass?

As an eager fan, I’ve been buzzing with anticipation about Borderlands 4, scheduled to launch before the year 2025 winds down. With modern gaming, there’s always that question on everyone’s mind: will it be available on Xbox Game Pass? Well, let me put your curiosity at ease – I’ve got the scoop!

Set for release on September 12th, Borderlands 4 promises an abundance of content that’s sure to tantalize players, featuring over 30 billion unique firearms. Our anticipation was definitely piqued following a hands-on demonstration during Gamescom.

If you haven’t purchased Borderlands 4 yet and are curious whether a Game Pass subscription could help you save some money, we have all the necessary information for you.

Can You Play Borderlands 4 on Xbox Game Pass?

Unfortunately, Borderlands 4 cannot be played using an Xbox Game Pass subscription at the time of its release on September 12th.

Borderlands 4 isn’t a game developed by Microsoft itself (a first-party Xbox title), so it doesn’t automatically become part of their service. As of now, no official announcement has been made about it being added to their library.

It’s possible that Microsoft hasn’t yet revealed the initial lineup of games joining Game Pass in September, but if Borderlands 4 were included, such an announcement would probably have been made earlier given how significant it would be.

Will Borderlands 4 Come to Xbox Game Pass?

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pretty sure Borderlands 4 might find its way onto Xbox Game Pass someday. But don’t hold your breath, as it seems like we’ve got quite a wait ahead if that’s the case.

Gearbox has been known to release their games on Game Pass, and Borderlands 3, complete with all its DLCs, was available there from April. However, starting September 1, Borderlands 3 will no longer be accessible on Game Pass as it prepares for the arrival of a new title, marking a four-month run on the service.

It’s clear that Gearbox is enthusiastic about the platform and has no issue adopting it. The timing of its decision to include Borderlands might have been strategically planned to generate excitement for Borderlands 4. So, it seems unlikely that the potential new title will be available on the service any time in the near future.

2019 was when I first got my hands on Borderlands 3, and it wasn’t until earlier this year that it made its way to Game Pass – a six-year gap! Considering that, it’s likely we won’t see Borderlands 4 for quite some time, perhaps not before the late 2030s. With so much DLC on the horizon, the creators have their work cut out for them.
