As someone who’s been a long-time Escape from Tarkov enthusiast, I must say that the new PvE mode has been a breath of fresh air for me. After years of dealing with server queues, cheaters, and the unforgiving nature of the game, I found myself drawn back into Tarkov’s world thanks to this refreshing change.
The recently introduced Player vs Environment (PvE) feature in Escape from Tarkov has caused a divide among the global gaming community. Some players are enamored with the new mode presented by Battlestate Games, while others have expressed opposition to it, arguing that it deviates from the core essence of Tarkov they’ve come to know.
For a few weeks now, I’ve been fully immersed in the PvE aspect of Escape from Tarkov. I was among the initial group of players who gained early access due to my purchase of the contentious Unheard Edition of this game.
So, is Escape from Tarkov PvE good, or is it a complete waste of time?
Is Escape from Tarkov PvE Worth It?
In the Player-versus-Environment (PvE) mode of Escape from Tarkov, you’ll find most features that the main Player-versus-Player (PvP) platform offers, but with numerous advantages. For instance, the loading times are drastically reduced, often taking less than 20 seconds to load a raid. This is a significant benefit, particularly during server wipes in Escape from Tarkov when the queue times are exceptionally long.
Regarding that matter, another significant benefit is that in PvE, you decide when to clear the game’s data – Battlestate Games doesn’t impose this on you. If you have a slower playstyle or limited free time, this is a huge benefit because it allows you to advance through the game according to your speed, achieving milestones that would have been impossible under the usual six-month wipe schedule found in Tarkov.
Instead of engaging in the primary version of Escape from Tarkov due to its high prevalence of cheaters, many gamers are choosing to participate in the game’s PvE mode as a way to avoid these suspicious players. It’s well-known that Escape from Tarkov struggles with cheating issues, but fortunately, you won’t encounter such players in the PvE setting, ensuring you won’t be unjustly killed.
As for other players, PvE (Player vs Environment) is also collaborative. This implies that you can join forces with your friends and participate in raids or similar activities for mutual support.
Does Tarkov PvE Have The Same Features as PvP?
In Escape from Tarkov’s Player vs. Environment (PvE), you’ll find all the features of the main game, including the Flea Market, Trader system, tasks, AI-controlled player character (PMC) enemies, and a fully developed Hideout. Managing PMCs can be challenging due to their unpredictable nature, but the overall experience is remarkably like the Player vs. Player (PvP) platform, making it easy to overlook the difference.
In Tarkov, Player vs Environment (PvE) retains Boss characters across all maps, maintaining an open-world environment, and features a consistent loot system. The game can be entirely played in PvE mode, which encompasses challenging tasks such as eliminating Player versus Player Characters (PMCs), though some of these tasks can be quite difficult, like those requiring you to kill PMCs in specific locations. However, with perseverance, it is achievable.
The only real difference in Tarkov PvE is that you won’t run into other players, which makes for an easier and more enjoyable session as you are less likely to be blasted across the map by a sudden suppressed sniper shot that hits you out of nowhere. In Tarkov’s PvE mode, you are the only Chad.
Well, choosing an easier difficulty level might mean missing out on the massive rush of triumph after a tough battle, but hey, it’s worth it for a smoother gaming experience.
If you’ve previously played Edge of Darkness or The Unheard Edition of Escape from Tarkov, you already have access to the game’s Player versus Environment (PvE) mode. For those who haven’t, you can purchase a lifetime access to PvE for only $20 directly from escapefromtarkov.com.
Ultimately, Escape from Tarkov PvE is fantastic and super enjoyable, and it has firmly brought me back into the Tarkov fold. I was put off for the longest time by the difficulty level, having less time to play, suffering from FOMO, and the cheaters that ruined the fun for everyone else.
Now, I can relax without concern for all those matters – and my raids are ready to go in just 30 seconds or even quicker. What an enormous advantage!
