Fire Emblem News Was Scarce In 2024

In 2025, it wouldn’t be surprising if a new Fire Emblem game was announced during the Switch 2 Direct on April 2 and released soon afterward, as this pattern matches the series’ past behavior. For instance, Fire Emblem Engage was unveiled in September 2022 before being launched in January 2023. Notably, the Fire Emblem franchise once saw a remarkable streak of four games in just four years: The Binding Blade in 2002, The Blazing Blade in 2003, The Sacred Stones in 2004, and Path of Radiance in 2005. Given this history, it’s plausible that Nintendo is holding onto a Fire Emblem game for release either alongside or shortly after the Switch 2.

Fire Emblem Could Get A Remake Or An Original Game

If a new Fire Emblem game is planned for the Switch 2, there’s speculation about whether it will be a remake of an existing title or a brand-new creation. In the past, three Fire Emblem titles have been remade, with Echoes: Shadows of Valentia being quite popular. Many Fire Emblem enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting a remake of the “Jugdral duology,” specifically Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, which never had a Western release. Another potential candidate for remaking is The Binding Blade, although its prequel, The Blazing Blade, did get a Western release – serving as many players’ introduction to the series.

A fresh addition to the Fire Emblem series could potentially be in the works, given that it’s been two years since Fire Emblem Engage. With no official details about the possible setting or plot of this new game, fans are left guessing. However, considering the success of Fire Emblem Three Houses’ route split and multiple stories, a similar approach might prove effective for the upcoming title.

It’s a fantastic idea to consider either a new or classic edition of the Fire Emblem series as part of the launch lineup for the upcoming Switch 2. As a strategic RPG, it would offer a unique touch compared to other potential Nintendo franchises like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, or Metroid. Additionally, themed Joy-Cons or accessories could be a hit, especially if they reflect the distinct colors of factions from games like Fire Emblem Fates or the houses in Fire Emblem Three Houses. Although no official announcements have been made yet, the extended time between releases, scarcity of updates, and anticipated abundance of first-party launch titles for the Nintendo Switch 2 suggest that a Fire Emblem game is a strong candidate for this role.
