Is NBA 2K25 cross-platform? Crossplay status explained

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for basketball, I can’t help but feel a tad disappointed at the limited cross-platform availability of NBA 2K25. Having played previous versions on different consoles, the prospect of playing with friends across platforms has always been an exciting one. However, it seems that this year, the game will only allow crossplay between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users.

If you’re eager to enjoy NBA 2K25 with your pals, it’s important to check if the game supports multiplayer across different platforms.

One simple rephrasing could be: Among various platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch, the game titled NBA 2K25 is easily accessible. However, let’s discuss if players can challenge each other online across different systems in this version of the game. Here’s an overview of NBA 2K25’s cross-platform compatibility.

Will NBA 2K25 have crossplay?

In the upcoming NBA 2K25, there will be an option for cross-platform play between gamers on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Unfortunately, this feature won’t extend to players using PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or PC versions of the game.

As a gamer, I’m stoked to share that the official FAQ confirms PS5 and Series X|S gamers like me can engage in “cross-platform competition” during co-op matches and online tournaments! This awesome feature made its debut in NBA 2K24 last year, and it’s back for more fun this time around.

With NBA 2K25 for the first time, PC gamers will get the latest-generation edition of the game. Given this development, some have speculated if PC could participate in this year’s crossplay feature. Nevertheless, it has officially been clarified that this is not part of the plan.

NBA 2K25 for PC will offer a new-generation experience, meaning you’ll be able to play all its modes like MyCAREER, MyTEAM, Play Now, along with some new additions such as ProPLAY, The City, MyNBA Eras, and The W. However, note that this version won’t support crossplay. You can access these features through Steam on your PC.

Progression between PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo platforms isn’t compatible. This feature is only accessible for consoles belonging to the same brand family.
