Injustice: God Among Us stands out in the fighting game genre, as NetherRealm Studios infused a DC Comics spin into their craft. Renowned for creating Mortal Kombat, NetherRealm innovated their own recipe, making Injustice a refreshing shift for fans of this genre. The initial game’s success paved the way for a sequel, and now that Injustice 2 is eight years old, speculation swirls about whether we might see Injustice 3 in the future.

NetherRealm Studios Should Jump On the Remake Bandwagon With Injustice
A Fun Brawler That Could Use a Fresh Coat of Paint
- Injustice: Gods Among Us was released on April 3, 2013.
Given its age surpassing a decade, it’s clear that the game Injustice is starting to look dated. Despite being an entertaining fighting game with an intriguing DC universe spin-off, Injustice could greatly profit from a modernization. The current trend in the gaming industry is remakes and remasters, and while not every trend should be followed blindly, if NetherRealm were to update Injustice, it might trigger a resurgence of the series. It remains uncertain what Injustice 3 could offer players if it ever comes into being, but the anticipation is growing, and creating a remake before the next installment might be the most effective approach.
Due to the debut of “Injustice”, the gaming world has experienced significant development over time. Visually, “Injustice” doesn’t quite measure up against current games, and there’s a possibility that this could discourage a newer generation of gamers from exploring the series. If NetherRealm were to improve the initial game and optimize it for modern systems, “Injustice” might attract an entirely new audience, in addition to its established fan base. There’s a great deal of anticipation for “Injustice 3”, and if NetherRealm manages to remake the game that kicked off the series, it could spark a lot of enthusiasm for a new narrative.
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled about NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming venture, Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023. There’s been a buzz that the third expansion pack might not materialize anymore, although this is yet to be officially announced. This rumor leaves me pondering if NetherRealm could be rethinking their future strategies.
Taking Full Advantage of WB’s DC Reboot
- HBO’s Creature Commandos animated series marked the beginning of Gunn and Safran’s DCU.
- The first major film of this DCU will be Superman.
- Superman arrives in theaters on July 11, 2025.
The work of Gunn and Safran to reshape the DCU makes an Injustice 3 game seem almost inevitable. It would be unusual for them to discuss NetherRealm studio adaptations that weren’t Injustice series games, given their expertise in fighting games. Given that fighting games are the studio’s specialty, it appears that Injustice 3 is the most logical choice.
As a game enthusiast, I’d put it this way: In the new Superman series, I step into the cape as the Man of Steel, with Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult playing my love interest Lois Lane and the mastermind Lex Luthor, respectively.
It’s possible, even though it seems unusual, that NetherRealm might unveil a new DC-themed fighting game not connected to the Injustice series. Until they officially reveal their next project, we can only speculate.
Instead of Injustice 3 being the ideal way to mark the debut of the new DC Universe Superman, a reboot of Injustice would serve as an excellent alternative. As time goes by, it will be intriguing to observe whether NetherRealm discloses any upcoming plans connected to Gunn and Safran’s aspirations for DC.
