Similar messages of sympathy were echoed across other PlayStation social media platforms. However, since then, no further updates regarding this matter have been provided.

After 18 hours without service on February 8, some PlayStation users are becoming increasingly agitated due to Sony’s silence regarding the issue. Their social media platforms are swarming with inquiries about the problem, and numerous passionate supporters claim that their weekend plans have been disrupted by this turn of events. Twitter user FedUpInTheMind expressed dissatisfaction, labeling the persistent outage “unacceptable” and demanding that Sony compensate fans as a gesture of apology.

PlayStation Users Fear PSN Outage Signals Another Sony Hack

Due to the extended duration of the service disruption and Sony’s silence on the matter, some enthusiasts have begun to draw parallels between the current problems and the 2011 PlayStation Network breakdown, when Sony’s servers went offline for over three weeks (from April 20 to May 14). This earlier event was triggered by a synchronized assault on the PSN servers, leading to the exposure of around 77 million user account details.

In 2011, the Sony hack caused the longest outage of PlayStation Network ever recorded. It took Sony a week to inform users about their data being breached during this event. The company explained that they required several days to thoroughly investigate the incident, including determining the complete scope and nature of the attack, which is why the notification was delayed.

At present, all services related to PlayStation Network (PSN) such as online gaming, streaming, managing accounts, and features from the PlayStation Store are temporarily down.
