WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for Solo Leveling and Solo Leveling Ragnarok Manhwa series.
Summary
- Sung Suho will not become the next Shadow Monarch like his father, Jinwoo.
- Instead, he will inherit the powers of Antares and become the Monarch of Destruction.
- With training from Antares through the System, Suho aims to equal or surpass his father’s strength.
In the epic tale “Solo Leveling Ragnarok,” Jinwoo is thriving and in good health, engaged in battles against formidable divine beings known as Itarim. Interestingly, though, the subsequent storyline does not revolve around Jinwoo; rather, it focuses on his son, Sung Suho. Due to circumstances, Sung Suho had a significant portion of his childhood without his parents. However, one fateful day, he was enlightened about his father’s true identity by Beru, the Ant King, thus setting the stage for his own extraordinary journey.
Ever since that day, Sung Suho has been learning from Beru with the aim of matching his father’s power. Although Suho has grown stronger in each battle, he still falls short compared to his father’s strength. However, this gap may close when he ascends to the position of a Monarch, leading us to wonder: Could Sung Suho follow in his father’s footsteps and become a Monarch like Jinwoo?
Sung Suho Inherited Some Powers From Jinwoo In Solo Leveling Ragnarok
But That Doesn’t Mean He Is The Next Shadow Monarch
Suho, born later, stepped into the role as Shadow Monarch’s heir after Jinwoo took over, following Ashborn. It was only natural for him to acquire some abilities from his father, which indeed occurred. To give Suho a regular life, Jinwoo restrained the boy’s powers when he was young. However, upon encountering Apostles who attacked him, Suho discovered his hidden powers. Coincidentally, on that same day, Beru arrived on Earth to reveal to Suho the truth about his lineage and father.
As Jinwoo battles the Itarim race in the cosmos, Beru has been guiding Suho within the System. Since Jinwoo once acquired remarkable and potent abilities through this System before becoming the Shadow Monarch, it seems logical that Suho will follow a similar path of growth. Notably, Suho possesses powers and talents passed down from being the Shadow Monarch’s son, such as Ruler’s Authority, Detoxification, Monarch’s Domain, Shadow Exchange, Shadow Extraction, etc. These abilities are identical to those Jinwoo employs against his adversaries as the Shadow Monarch, making one ponder whether Suho might one day claim all the powers of the Shadow Monarch. However, things aren’t always straightforward.
As a bystander, I often noticed that Sung Suho resembled his father quite strongly. So, I couldn’t help but ponder how his father managed to avoid the sense of powerlessness he sometimes felt…
Despite sharing the same skills as his father, Suho might not become the next Shadow Monarch since Jinwoo has attained true immortality in this position and is unlikely to relinquish it. In essence, while Ragnarok may be Suho’s tale, Jinwoo remains a constant presence. However, Jinwoo could potentially transfer his powers to Suho, but it seems improbable that he will do so.
In the storyline, it’s clear that Itarim poses a formidable challenge that Jinwoo can’t handle alone, so he enlists Beru’s aid to strengthen his son. Jinwoo seeks Suho as an ally in vanquishing Itarim while safeguarding Earth from relentless assaults. Contrary to Ashborn’s departure, Jinwoo intends to remain involved and empower his son with the Shadow Monarch’s abilities. Nevertheless, Jinwoo has a strategic scheme to transform his son into a Monarch.
Sung Suho Will Inherit The Powers Of Another Monarch
Suho Becoming The Monarch Of Destruction Makes Much More Sense
In simpler terms, it’s clear that Jinwoo is the most powerful character in the Solo Leveling universe. If Sung Suho were to gain the powers of the Shadow Monarch, he would essentially become a carbon copy of his father, which wouldn’t make for an engaging storyline in the sequel series. Therefore, it seems unlikely that Suho will become the Shadow Monarch. However, since Suho is the main character, readers might question his credibility if he doesn’t measure up to Jinwoo’s power level. It’s improbable for Suho to match Jinwoo’s strength without becoming a Monarch himself, so this development seems inevitable. Fortunately, there are other Monarchs in the Solo Leveling universe besides the Shadow Monarch, leaving room for Suho’s growth and potential transformation into a different type of Monarch.
In the epic saga of Ragnarok, Antares was the second most powerful ruler, trailing only Ashborn. This Monarch of Destruction possessed the ability to obliterate entire planets, and if not for Ashborn, he could have vanquished the other rulers. Given this, it’s no surprise that the authors chose to designate Suho as the future Monarch of Destruction in the series. With Suho acquiring Antares’ powers alongside those he inherited from Jinwoo, the young lad might even surpass his father. If this seems far-fetched, then at the very least, Suho could achieve a strength equivalent to that of Jinwoo. By maintaining Jinwoo as the Shadow Monarch and elevating Suho to the position of Monarch of Destruction, both characters remain significant in the Solo Leveling narrative.
It’s intriguing that Suho is currently preparing to assume the role of the Destructive Monarch in the web novel. It seems that Suho encountered Antares in the Realm of Death, a location where Monarchs rest eternally. Simultaneously, Jinwoo strikes a bargain with Antares, vowing to resurrect him if he guides Suho towards becoming the next Shadow Monarch.
Delighted to share the latest development! I’ve played a little trick up my sleeve, you see. I’ve managed to fulfill my part of the agreement, but with an unexpected twist. I’ve returned Antares to Ragna’s body, yes, but
Antares was undeniably outsmarted by me, yet surprisingly, he’s been mentoring Suho to become the next Monarch of Destruction via the System. Now, we can only sit back and watch as Suho concludes his training, preparing to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Shadow Monarch against the Itarim race. Exciting times ahead!
