Where Winds Meet is an action role-playing game inspired by Wuxia culture. It offers players a lot of flexibility in how they fight and explore the game world, and features a compelling story. The game is free to play, but includes an in-game store. It uses a gacha system for monetization, but it’s designed differently from those in many other free-to-play games.
While Where Winds Meet does include a gacha system, it’s designed to be fair – you won’t need to spend any money to enjoy the full game. Here’s an explanation of how the gacha mechanics work.
How Does Gacha Work in Where Winds Meet?
Unlike many other gacha games, Where Winds Meet uses its gacha system only for cosmetic items. Both the regular and limited-time banners offer skins, useful consumables like dyes and healing items, and visual effects for your abilities – nothing that affects gameplay.
In Where Winds Meet, there’s a system to help you get rare items, but it only activates after you’ve tried your luck 150 times on a single banner. You’re guaranteed to receive a high-quality item every 10 attempts.
Where Winds Meet Gacha Currencies
The game features two types of in-game currency used for its random character draws (gacha banners): Lingering Melodies and Resonating Melodies. Lingering Melodies are only used for time-limited banners, while Resonating Melodies are for the always-available standard banner. You can purchase both types of currency with Echo Jades in the Jianghu Treasures section of the store, and you earn Echo Jades by playing the game.
In Where Winds Meet, you can find lots of Echo Jades by opening chests, finishing quests, joining a guild, and battling in the Arena. The game generally gives out rewards pretty freely.
Okay, so I noticed in the Jianghu Treasures shop that Lingering Melodies are 200 Echo Jades, but Resonant Melodies are cheaper at just 160. Just a heads-up though – there’s a limit to how many Lingering Melodies you can actually buy, so keep that in mind!
Is Where Winds Meet Pay-to-Win?
Don’t worry about gacha banners in Where Winds Meet unless you’re focused on fashion! The cool skins and effects you win don’t actually improve your chances of success in the game – they just change how your character looks.
While the game’s banners offer temporary boosts to your character through food and items, everything you can get from them can also be made yourself using materials you collect while playing.
You can also buy outfits and skill effects directly from the in-game store. If you prefer not to rely on the random chance of gacha systems, check out the store’s selection for more straightforward options.
