In the realm of Ishura, the genuine Demon Lord, who had long caused fear and havoc, was slain by a valiant hero. Yet, in his stead, multiple entities endowed with devastating abilities have emerged. These beings are known as the Shura. Their affiliations determine whether they serve as a benevolent force or a resurrection of the demon lord.
The Shuras originate from diverse origins, with some hailing from alternate realms as humans, others belonging to non-human species, and a few possessing exceptional skills in the arcane arts, often referred to as Word Magic. However, one fact remains undeniable: These powerful beings are capable of single-handedly leveling an entire city.
9. Regnejee the Sunset Wings
The Ruthless Wyvern Commander
- First Appearance: Episode 2
- Allegiance: New Principality of Lithia
- Status: Deceased
Regnejee, the Sunset Wings, serves as the aerial protector for the New Principality of Lithia, overseeing a vast army of fellow Wyverns. Whenever he gives the command, his winged comrades are prepared to risk their lives in defense.
Regnejee’s greatest strength lies in his formidable Word Arts and exceptional leadership skills. His Word Arts enable him to unleash powerful, devastating beams capable of annihilating a multitude of Wyverns. As a commander, he excels at devising strategic plans that ensure his troops emerge victorious against any adversary. However, Regnejee meets his demise during the Battle of Lithia, fatally wounded by Alus the Star Runner. In the aftermath, an Aureatia general ends his life.
8. Higuare the Pelagic
The Battle-Crazed Mandrake
- First Appearance: Episode 2
- Allegiance: New Principality of Lithia
- Status: Deceased
Higuare the Pelagic, originally a Mandrake, transforms into a battle-loving warrior after being taken captive and compelled to engage in gladiatorial combat for numerous years. During this time, he sharpened his fighting skills. Unlike other gladiators, Higuare doesn’t harbor any personal desire or ambition; he merely follows the commands of his master and engages in violent confrontations to protect himself from being killed first.
Because Higure is essentially a sentient plant, he uses his branches like human hands and engages in combat with a sword. With the ability to create and extend these branches as needed, Higure can wield and control up to 42 swords simultaneously. Each of these swords is laced with a deadly poison that proves fatal upon touch, making him extremely dangerous in hand-to-hand encounters. However, it was Nastique the Silent Singer who ultimately took Higure’s life.
7. Nihilo the Vortical Stampede
An Eight-Legged Killing Machine
- First Appearance: Episode 3
- Allegiance: Aureatia
- Status: Deceased
The character known as Nihilo, the Vortical Stampede, was engineered artificially by a Demonic Overlord as a component of his sinister biological weapons program. Following the demise of this Demonic Overlord, the Aureatian forces took Nihilo into custody.
In battle, Nihilo demonstrates strength beyond the typical soldier, yet she truly shines when she takes control of her iconic weapon, a colossal mechanical spider known as Helneten the Burial. This formidable machine possesses the force to demolish an entire structure without causing a single scratch on its robust armor, and it can also fire threads of incredible strength that can cut through any obstacle. Regrettably, Nihilo met her end at the hands of Dakai the Magpie during the Battle of Lithia.
6. Dakai the Magpie
A Cunning and Tactical Bandit
- First Appearance: Episode 3
- Allegiance: New Principality of Lithia
- Status: Deceased
In a different realm hails Dakai, a figure often mistaken for a man. Unlike others who might boast about their weaponry, Dakai does not claim the title of swordsman. Instead, he goes by the name of an outlaw, or bandit, which seems more fitting given his combative skills. However, it is when he operates in the clandestine world that Dakai truly excels. From penetrating enemy lines to gathering intelligence, Dakai’s true brilliance lies in the shadows.
Beyond his exceptional skill in sword fighting, Dakai’s most notable trait is his extraordinary visual perception and aptitude for devising effective strategies instantly. His eyes enable him to spot enemies hidden behind walls and even discern details such as veins beneath skin and armor layers. However, Dakai met his end at the hands of Soujiro, the Master Swordsman of the Willow Blade.
5. Shalk the Sound Slicer
The Undead Lancer for Hire
- First Appearance: Episode 2
- Allegiance: New Principality of Lithia
- Status: Alive
Shalk, known as the Sound Slicer, is a reanimated soldier available for hire in battle. Hailing from diverse origins, he’s one of the exceptional figures (Shuras) that the New Principality of Lithia has assembled globally to support their impending conflict with Aureatia.
Shalk’s primary weapon is a spear, and he is remarkably skilled with it. However, what truly makes Shalk formidable isn’t just his deadly spearplay, but his extraordinary speed. In fact, even Soujiro the Willow Sword, one of the top melee combatants in the series, struggled to follow his movements, leading to their fight ending inconclusively.
4. Alus the Star Runner
A Flying Magical Armory
- First Appearance: Episode 2
- Allegiance: Aureatia
- Status: Alive
Alus, the Star Runner, is a unique Wyvern born with a rare trait – a bluish complexion instead of the usual reddish skin among his kin, and extra limbs that set him apart. Being distinct from his fellow Wyverns, Alus has often felt like an outsider and never truly bonded with them in the way other Wyverns do.
Among all Wyverns, Alus stands out as the swiftest by a significant margin, with no contender able to keep pace with his top flying velocity. However, it’s essential to recognize that Alus’ primary strength lies not only in his speed but also in the lethal magical artifacts he has amassed from various corners of the world. To add fuel to the fire, his strategic intellect and agility in adapting to opponents’ strategies make him one of the deadliest combatants globally.
3. Soujiro the Willow-Sword
A Powerful Swordsman from Another World
- First Appearance: Episode 1
- Allegiance: Yuno the Distant Talon
- Status: Alive
Soujiro, known as the Willow-Sword, hails from a different realm much like Dakai the Magpie. He was associated with the esteemed Yagyuu clan and an adept of the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu. Unlike others who may be engrossed in warfare, heroics, or battles against demon lords, Soujiro’s primary desire lies in facing a formidable adversary capable of igniting his competitive spirit.
Soujiro is an exceptional swordsman, boasting unmatched ability, speed, power, and resilience. However, his most impressive quality lies in his uncanny knack for instantly identifying an opponent’s vulnerability, even during fast-paced battles. He meticulously studies his adversary’s movements, body positioning, fighting style, and distinctive characteristics. This unique blend of extraordinary talents and innate skills is what makes him capable of single-handedly demolishing a titanic golem that could flatten an entire city with its laser blast.
2. Nastique the Quiet Singer
The Silent Angel of Death
- First Appearance: Episode 5
- Allegiance: Kuze the Passing Disaster
- Status: Alive
Kuze, the Relentless Destroyer, is often recognized for his skill in eliminating any adversaries who dare cross his path. However, a more accurate account reveals a different truth. The deaths attributed to Kuze were not solely his doing; it was Nastique the Silent Melodist, an angel of death, who consistently accompanied Kuze and safeguarded him from any potential threats.
On a superior realm dwells the elusive entity known as Nastique, invisible to human sight. Only Kuze possesses a vague ability to sense and acknowledge her presence. Her intangibility offers an immense advantage, but it is her formidable weapon – a sword capable of instantaneously ending any life with a single touch – that truly makes her a force to be reckoned with.
1. Kia the World Word
The One Who Can Bend the Law of Physics
- First Appearance: Episode 4
- Allegiance: Elea the Red Tag
- Status: Alive
In the realm of Ishura, Nastique’s formidable strength could very well make her the most powerful Shura. Yet, her power is limited to causing death, offering no other benefits. Contrastingly, Kia’s abilities are boundless. Her power surpasses the fundamental rules of Word Arts, a magic system in Ishura that manifests through its user’s words. Unlike others who must speak spells to activate their Word Arts, Kia can manipulate physical laws and even reshape reality merely by speaking.
With a single word, “sleep,” “clear away,” or “disperse,” Kia has an extraordinary ability to put people to sleep instantly, clear the sky of clouds, and even neutralize powerful laser blasts. This power requires no special incantation, and there appears to be no limit to what she can achieve with it. Given her exceptional abilities, it’s only fitting that she holds the title of the most powerful character in the realm of Ishura.
