As an avid gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that these recent Nintendo Switch 2 leaks have me intrigued. The attention to detail and the incorporation of legitimate-looking product certificates in the images are certainly points that resonate with me, having seen many a console come and go over the years.
According to a thorough investigation conducted by a dedicated individual scrutinizing each detail, it appears that the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 may indeed be legitimate, as supported by a fresh analysis recently brought to light by an observant fan. This new examination lends credibility to a secretive source who has been releasing alleged images of Nintendo’s upcoming console in the past few weeks.
The individual under discussion is Reddit user NextHandheld, who has been passing on supposed details about the Switch 2 since mid-December 2024. Among the intriguing facts shared so far, some striking information surfaced recently in the form of multiple images claimed to show the upcoming console and its dock. However, some enthusiasts have expressed doubt about these photos, citing certain peculiarities that suggest they might be artificial intelligence creations.
Based on recent findings, Reddit user RealDoodleDoop has presented an extensive examination of these images, suggesting that the leaks about NextHandheld’s Switch 2 might be authentic. Although this observant fan spotted signs of manipulation in the images, such as reflections on the console’s body not aligning with their surroundings’ color, they propose that NextHandheld predominantly edited the background, possibly using a generative AI to draw a generic, out-of-focus workshop. This alteration might have been made to conceal the actual location where the console was photographed, thereby preserving the source’s anonymity.
NextHandheld’s Leaked Switch 2 Images Get a Lot of Details Right
It’s possible, even likely, that the hand holding the device in the photos might be AI-generated rather than real. This is suggested by one image showing the watch worn over a sleeve, an unusual fashion choice indeed. Ignoring the environmental oddity, the images produced by RealDoodleDoop seem to capture many small details accurately. For instance, they depict a handheld device and a dock with tri-wing screws, a type of bolt not commonly found in mass-produced devices but has been used consistently across various generations of Nintendo consoles, such as the Switch and Wii U.
It seems that the measurements of the supposedly leaked Switch 2 console align with the device depicted in NextHandheld’s images, as best as RealDoodleDoop could estimate using Photoshop. Additionally, while the image of the dock is somewhat blurry, it appears to carry the regulatory labels common on contemporary consumer electronics.
Nintendo must reveal its upcoming console by March 31, as promised earlier. With an increasing number of leaks about the Switch 2, it seems that we are nearing the point where actual images of the console have been shared. This suggests that the device might already be in full-scale production. Consequently, a launch in Q2 2024 is a possibility, although it could also be the earliest time the Switch 2 would realistically appear on store shelves.
