The One Piece world is full of incredibly strong characters – from powerful pirates and Marines to the world-ruling Celestial Dragons. As the story reaches its climax, these characters will become even more central, and the author, Oda, plans to show how they all play a major part in the huge battle that’s coming soon.
The final arc of One Piece promises intense battles between the most powerful characters, giving fans a chance to see them unleash their full potential. In Chapter 1174, creator Eiichiro Oda introduced what many believe to be the series’ new strongest character: Loki, the notorious prince of Elbaf.
One Piece Chapter 1174 Confirms Loki Is Among The Strongest In The World
The Prince of Elbaf Holds Legendary Power
Chapter 1174 of One Piece revealed a crucial backstory for Loki, the Accursed Prince. It turns out Loki was imprisoned in the Underworld for the past 14 years because he killed King Harald. However, the real culprit behind Harald’s actions was Imu, who had taken control of the king. Though heartbroken, Loki stopped his father’s violent rampage and then chose to take the blame for the king’s death, forcing him to flee the country and live in exile for years to protect his family’s honor.
Loki, driven by a desire for revenge against Imu, spent years causing trouble on the seas. Six years prior, he clashed with the red-haired pirate Shanks and was defeated. Shanks took Loki to Elbaf, where he was imprisoned in the country’s underworld. After Luffy encountered him, Loki was finally released, and the author, Oda, has now revealed the full extent of his abilities.
I am the Sun God who will destroy the world! — Loki
One Piece chapter 1174 revealed Loki transforming into a massive dragon and flying over Elbaf. The chapter title strongly suggests Loki is the world’s strongest being, which is a frightening prospect and hints at his incredible power. His immense size makes him capable of destroying entire countries. For fans familiar with his past accomplishments and Devil Fruit abilities, Loki’s status as the strongest isn’t much of a surprise.
Loki Has The Power Of The Nidhogg Dragon
The National Treasure of Elbaf
When Loki debuted in One Piece as the Accursed Prince of Elbaf, Oda consistently emphasized his potential to not only devastate Elbaf, but the entire world. This immediately established him as incredibly powerful and a contender for the strongest character in the series.
The flashback featuring Loki revealed he was the one who defeated King Harald, a warrior so powerful he was likened to a world-destroying weapon. Imu stated Harald was invincible, yet Loki managed to overcome him, strongly suggesting Loki was among the world’s strongest fighters. This idea was further solidified in One Piece chapter 1174, where Oda explicitly named Loki as the strongest in the world, alongside Luffy.
Ahahaha, look at how big you’ve become! — Luffy
In the world of One Piece, Loki is now considered the most powerful mortal, thanks to a unique Devil Fruit and the power of Ragnir. Chapter 1174 revealed that Loki can transform into the Nidhogg Dragon, a creature from Norse mythology. This Devil Fruit was a long-lost national treasure of Elbaf, and Loki only gained access to it after earning the trust of Ragnir—a legendary hammer that can also transform into a squirrel. With this fruit, Loki has become an incredibly dangerous force.
Loki dramatically shifted into a massive black dragon, and shockingly, could also control lightning. As a Western-style dragon, it’s no surprise he likely breathes fire too. His abilities are incredible, and right now, he might be the most powerful character in the story, surpassing even Luffy.
Loki Can Destroy The Whole World
I’ve seen firsthand just how devastating Loki can be. He could level an entire country like Elbaf with just a couple of hits, and honestly, he could wipe out the whole world if he wanted to. He’s a truly terrifying being, far beyond what most people can even comprehend. Even the strongest pirates, like Kaido and Big Mom, wouldn’t stand a chance against him at his full power – he’s on a completely different level. When you consider what he did to King Harald, and the sheer ease with which he could destroy the world, it’s clear why he deserves to be called the strongest there is.
Only Imu And Shanks Are Comparable To Loki
Shanks Somehow Beat Loki 6 Years Ago
One Piece chapter 1174 strongly suggests that Loki is currently the world’s strongest fighter, but that doesn’t make him invincible. We already know he lost a fight six years ago – to Shanks. The details of that battle are still a mystery. We don’t know if it was a one-on-one duel or if Shanks and his entire crew took on Loki, and we don’t know how Shanks managed to win. It’s possible Loki is still more powerful overall but couldn’t actually beat Shanks, which is why he insults him. Alternatively, Oda might be establishing Shanks as the absolute strongest character in the series. Whatever happened, it’s clear these two are evenly matched in terms of strength.
Like Loki, Imu is an incredibly powerful character, clearly surpassing even the strongest pirates like the Yonko. Imu proved their dominance by defeating Rocks D. Xebec at God Valley. Currently, Loki is more powerful than Rocks, making them a potential match for Imu’s strength, especially as the story moves towards the Elbaf arc. It seems likely the author will have Loki and Imu fight, finally revealing who is truly stronger. As of now, Loki, Imu, and Shanks appear to be the three most powerful characters in the One Piece world.
