It’s Official, Solo Leveling’s Next Season Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

I’ve been absolutely blown away by how huge Solo Leveling has become! It was already incredibly popular as a manhwa and web novel, but the anime adaptation just sent it into the stratosphere. It’s amazing to see so many new fans discovering the source material now! And if you’re like me and loved the original, you’ll be thrilled to know there’s a sequel called Solo Leveling Ragnarok that continues the story!

Unlike the original Solo Leveling, this series, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, centers on Jinwoo’s son, Sung Suho, and his new journey. While the Ragnarok novel finished in 2025, the manhwa adaptation is still ongoing—but will be taking a break. The reason for the hiatus has been announced: the artist, Jin, needs to fulfill his mandatory military service in South Korea. Although this is disappointing, a new artist will be joining the project soon.

Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s Hiatus Reason Has Finally Been Revealed

  • Jin, The Artist, Has To Go Through Military Service

Fans of Solo Leveling are disappointed to learn about the series’ break. Solo Leveling Ragnarok Season 2 has unexpectedly concluded, especially since Manawa returned to the story relatively recently in late 2025. The season was short-lived, and that’s not even considering the frequent pauses between new chapters.

Viewers were confused and frustrated when the show suddenly went on pause, particularly because things were getting really interesting. Now, they finally understand what happened.

I’m really bummed to share that Solo Leveling Ragnarok Season 2 is wrapping up, and it’s all down to the amazing artist, Jin! He’s been the one bringing the whole Solo Leveling manhwa to life with his incredible artwork. Sadly, he has to fulfill his mandatory military service in South Korea, which means he won’t be able to continue as the artist. It’s tough news, but we all support him and his service!

Jin dropped a long heartfelt message that fans can read below:

“Hello, readers. I am the illustrator Jin.

I enjoyed reading Solo Leveling a lot during school, even before I started working on it professionally.

I began creating art after being inspired by the work and vision of the late artist Jang Sung-Rak, and his influence still shapes everything I do.

After high school, I kept competing in contests, and then surprisingly, I got the chance to work on Solo Leveling. I can still clearly recall the excitement I felt when I found out.

It’s been about four years, and working on the Solo Leveling Side Story and Solo Leveling Ragnarok has taught me a lot, both as a writer and as a person.

There were many shortcomings and difficult moments, but I think it was a valuable time.

As of today, I will be finishing all work related to the piece and taking a short break.

I’m going to be away for a bit because of my military service, but I don’t see this as a goodbye. Instead, I think of it as a chance to prepare for what comes next. It’s not an ending, just a pause for growth.

I fully support the new artist taking over the series, another talented student of the late Jang Sung-Rak. Continuing Solo Leveling will be a big task, considering how popular it is, but I believe they’ll bring their own creativity and expand the story in exciting ways.

I hope that readers will also join us with warm eyes.

I’m deeply grateful to the artists I collaborated with, and especially to the readers who enjoyed and supported my work. Your feedback has meant so much to me and given me incredible strength.

I’ll always value this experience and will work hard to create art I’m proud of. Thank you for all your support.” — Jin

Solo Leveling is Getting a New Artist

  • A Disciple of Solo Leveling’s Original Artist, Jang Sung-Rak

It’s disappointing that Jin is stepping down as the artist for Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, but the series isn’t ending. A new artist will be continuing the work. We don’t know yet who will be taking over from Jin, but some information has been shared with fans.

The artist taking over Solo Leveling Ragnarok was a student of the original series’ artist, Jang Seong-rak, who recently passed away. Fans are excited to see what this new artist will bring to the series.

Jin Could Return as The Artist Someday, But Solo Leveling Ragnarok Will Be Over By Then

  • South Korean Mandatory Service Lasts Almost Two Years

Jin has expressed a strong desire to work on Solo Leveling again. However, a return to Ragnarok seems unlikely. He’s enlisting for military service, meaning he’ll be away for at least 18 to 21 months – almost two years. By the time he returns, the Solo Leveling Ragnarok manhwa will likely be finished, unless there are significant delays.

Jin might continue to be involved with future Solo Leveling stories, as he’s previously created side stories for the series, and fans are aware of this.

Solo Leveling Ragnarok Manhwa Goes On Break

  • The Hiatus Is Termed Indefinite

Despite having a new artist lined up, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok will remain on hold for now. The artist likely needs time to get ready, so the planned break is still happening as expected.

I bear witness to your hardships, prove your strength, and offer solace after pain. I am death, and with me comes lasting peace—though I am also fear itself. – Ashborn to Sung Jinwoo, Solo Leveling

I’m still waiting to hear exactly how long the break will be, but one thing’s for sure: fans are eager to find out when the third season of Solo Leveling will finally arrive. It doesn’t sound like we’ll be waiting too long, though. My guess is we can expect to see Suho’s story continue in about six months, and it’s going to be a thrilling return!

Solo Leveling has two seasons out right now, one with 12 episodes, and the other with 13, for a combined episode count of 25 episodes available to watch right now. The series can be streamed on Crunchyroll for fans to enjoy while awaiting any more news concerning the third season. There have been no major announcements about a third season so far. Fans can get more Solo Leveling content via the Manhwa.
