It’s The End of An Era For One-Punch Man Fans

The 2010s were a fantastic decade for anime, bringing us many popular new shows and helping it gain wider recognition. Among all the great anime that premiered during this time, One Punch Man really stood out. The first season of One Punch Man came out in 2015 and quickly became a global fan favorite.

The premise of One Punch Man, featuring a hero who can defeat anyone with a single punch, was initially very promising, and the first season boasted fantastic animation and direction. Unfortunately, subsequent seasons haven’t lived up to that standard. While Season 2 in 2019 was a disappointment, many hoped Season 3 would be a return to form. Sadly, that hasn’t happened. Currently airing, Season 3 is receiving overwhelmingly negative feedback and has become the lowest-rated anime of 2025, even earning the distinction of having the year’s worst-rated episode. It appears this marks a significant decline for the One Punch Man series.

One Punch Man Is Over As Season 3 Flops Hard

Fans of One Punch Man were thrilled when the third season was announced, hoping it would improve upon the issues many had with the second season. However, warning signs appeared early on, and it became clear months before the premiere that the season was heading for trouble. The lack of a proper trailer suggested the animation was being rushed and the team didn’t have enough time to produce quality work.

Since its release, the third season of One Punch Man hasn’t lived up to expectations. The situation became difficult enough that several people involved with the season had to step away from social media and address the criticism directly. While fans are understandably upset with how the series is being handled, that doesn’t excuse harassing the people who worked hard on it under a tight deadline.

One Punch Man Is The Lowest Rated Anime of 2025

Many fans hoped Season 3 of One Punch Man would be an improvement over Season 2, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations.

On MyAnimeList, the most popular anime review site, Season 3 of One Punch Man received the lowest rating of any anime released this year. Its score of 5.42/10 was even lower than that of “The Beginning After the End.” This is a significant drop from the previous season, which scored a 7.53/10.

You’re not going to make it. You clearly don’t understand what it takes to be a true hero. The world is full of incredibly strong villains, and heroes stand against them, even when they have no allies. Simply surrounding yourself with weaker people won’t protect you – you’ll be helpless when a truly powerful enemy appears, and your followers won’t be able to save you. One Punch Man Has The Lowest Rated Episode of 2025 On IMDb

Season 3 of Overlord was not only the lowest-rated anime series of the year, but it also included the single lowest-rated episode of any anime that year.

IMDb users have rated One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 6 the lowest of any episode so far, giving it a score of just 1.9 out of 10. While future episodes could potentially receive even lower ratings, this highlights significant issues with the season’s production quality.

No matter how many monsters I defeat, inside, I’m bored out of my mind. —Saitama

One Punch Man Can’t Make A Comeback After Back to Back Anime Flop Seasons

One-Punch Man fans are frustrated with how poorly the anime adapts the original manga. While a single disappointing season might have been acceptable, the show continues to decline in quality, and there’s little hope for improvement.

In exchange for power, maybe I’ve lost something that is essential to being human. —Saitama

From what I’ve seen, the series isn’t getting the attention it deserves. The animators are constantly under pressure to work quickly, and relying heavily on outside help seems to be really hurting the quality and overall direction of the show. It feels like the franchise is suffering as a result.

It seems unlikely that One-Punch Man will ever be as popular as it was during its first season. Luckily, fans can still enjoy the ongoing manga, which has excellent artwork.

Season 3 of One Punch Man is now available! You can stream new episodes every Sunday on Crunchyroll. If you prefer the manga, it’s available to read on Viz Media.
