Summary
- Passimian Ex in Pokemon TCG Pocket is hindered by its ability Offload Pass, triggered only upon its defeat.
- Passimian Ex’s lackluster stats and strategy make it one of the weakest Ex cards in the game.
- The ability of Offload Pass would have been better suited for a non-Ex Passimian card in the game.
In essence, the digital version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, known as Pokemon TCG Pocket, contains numerous cards that aren’t intended to be incredibly potent or game-changing when they are initially released. These ‘filler’ cards can still have their uses and may even surprise players with hidden potential in the game. However, many of these filler cards often go unused or only see limited play, particularly when a new set is launched. This is precisely the case for one Celestial Guardians Ex card.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but reflect on the exceptional cards that graced the Celestial Guardians expansion of Pokemon TCG Pocket. Among these, none have had a more transformative impact (arguably the most) than Rare Candy, revolutionizing many Stage 2 decks and making them competitive contenders, even some of the best in the game. Several Ex cards also stood out, like the harmonious duo of Lunala Ex and Giratina Ex, Solgaleo Ex decks, Skarmory decks, the synergy between Decidueye Ex and Meowscarada, and more recently, Pheromosa.
However, when comparing these impressive additions, Passimian Ex stands out as one of the worst Ex cards in the game for a critical reason: its performance is consistently underwhelming.
Why Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Passimian Ex May Need to Face the Reaper
Typically, advantages gained from losing in video games or discarding crucial cards in card games aren’t beneficial for players as they often find themselves in challenging situations. This concept is central to Passimian Ex, a character that possesses the Offload Pass ability, which activates when Passimian Ex is defeated. While Offload Pass isn’t inherently negative due to its function of transferring all Fighting Energy attached to Passimian Ex onto another Pokemon controlled by the user, if Passimian Ex is defeated, the opponent already holds a significant advantage, either having two out of three points or having already won the game.
The Pokémon card Passimian Ex, with stats like 130 HP, dealing 60 damage, and requiring two Energy, isn’t particularly impressive to begin with. While it offers some time for a player to develop their team, it’s not a practical or dependable tactic. Instead, tried-and-true decks featuring Druddigon and Darkrai Ex for stalling, or even the new Stoutland card from Pokemon TCG Pocket for delaying opponents while building a stronger team, would be more effective compared to Passimian Ex since these cards don’t grant two points on a Knock Out.
During the Celestial Guardians ranked season in Pokemon TCG Pocket, it was common to find some decks featuring Passimian Ex cards. However, these decks were generally not competitive and lacked significant value. Abilities that rely on the Pokemon being knocked out are seldom effective, especially when attached to an Ex card in a fast-paced game environment like this one. Regardless of how useful or attractive Offload Pass may appear, its limited applications make it insignificant in increasing the overall worth of Passimian Ex.
Passimian Ex Walked So That Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Electrical Cord Could Run
Indeed, Offload Pass is a powerful skill, as demonstrated by the latest Electrical Cord Pokemon Tool in Pokemon TCG Pocket. This ability transferring Energy to benched Pokemon when one in the active spot is knocked out is beneficial, but it would have been even better if Offload Pass were on a non-Ex Passimian card while maintaining thematic consistency. Unfortunately, this card is not competitive in standard matches, making it largely useless, which is unfortunate given its rarity and potential usefulness on another card.
