This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a hugely popular series created by Gege Akutami. It has quickly become one of the biggest action manga and anime series, even outselling giants like One Piece at certain points. The incredible buzz around the series was unmatched, and its ending was disappointing for many fans.
Good news for fans: Gege is back with a follow-up series called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Even though it’s just started, it’s becoming clear that Modulo might actually be a better story than the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga in some ways. The new story and characters are incredibly engaging, and it’s achieving this without relying on familiar faces from the first series, which really shows how talented Gege Akutami is as a writer.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Might Already Be Better Than The Original In Some Ways
- Modulo’s Writing Has Been Phenomenal
- JJK Modulo Fixes Major Issues Of The Original Series
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is the official continuation of the popular series Jujutsu Kaisen, created by Gege Akutami. Fans worldwide have enthusiastically welcomed Akutami’s return after a year-long hiatus, as they greatly enjoyed the original series.
Even though fans of Jujutsu Kaisen were eager to check out Modulo no matter the quality, the series has surprisingly impressed a lot of people. With just a few chapters released so far, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is showing a lot of promise, and some fans are already saying they enjoy it even more than the original Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo introduces a new group of characters, and while we haven’t seen much of the original cast yet, people are still eagerly following the story each week. Importantly, Modulo addresses some of the problems that held back the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
I’m really excited about the new Modulo characters! Yuka, Tsurugi, and Maru all feel so important to the story, and each one is genuinely interesting and different. It’s a huge step up from the original series, which, honestly, started to focus almost entirely on Yuji and then felt like it was wrapping things up too quickly at the end. Having a strong trio really adds a lot!
The Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga builds its world in a more engaging way than the original story, and it does so in fewer chapters. The author, Gege, has put a lot of effort into developing the alien characters with compelling details, making them feel authentic and independent—they aren’t just there to move the main character’s story forward. He’s also started using flashbacks, which he previously avoided in the original series.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Stands as One Of The Best Official Sequels
- The New Characters are Interesting In Their Own Right
- The Story is Fresh, But Keeps The Air of Jujutsu Kaisen Alive
Whenever a beloved TV show gets a sequel or spin-off, fans often worry. Historically, most sequels haven’t lived up to the original, and some have even damaged the reputation of the show they came from. This often happens because the original actors are sidelined or poorly used in favor of new characters. These original cast members are frequently the main reason people enjoyed the show in the first place, and without them, interest often fades.
So far, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo stands out from what’s come before. The new characters have quickly captured fans’ attention thanks to their strong writing and unique personalities. The series is incredibly engaging even without the original characters, and viewers are hopeful that the author, Gege, will continue to deliver a compelling story.
It remains to be seen if Modulo will maintain its high quality or lose momentum, but early indications are positive and the series has begun very strongly in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a hugely popular action manga that recently concluded in late 2024. You can still read the complete series online for free on Manga Plus, where new chapters used to be released every week. A sequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is now running in Weekly Shonen Jump. Chapter 9 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo will be available on November 2, 2025, and, like the original series, will be free to read on Manga Plus.
