This article contains spoilers from the Final Saga of One Piece.
Fans of One Piece are really looking forward to what happens next in the story. Currently, the series is in the Elbaf arc, which follows Luffy and his crew as they explore the land of the Giants. This arc is proving to be very popular, as One Piece sales are increasing again. However, the Elbaf arc won’t last forever. At a recent Jump Festa event, creator Eiichiro Oda announced that he plans to conclude the Elbaf arc in 2026 and move the story forward for Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates.
This suggests that the final part of One Piece will really get underway in 2026. Surprisingly, Eiichiro Oda hinted that a new story arc could even begin that year. While this is a bit daunting for fans, it’s also incredibly exciting.
One Piece Is Already Deep In The Final Saga
- Egghead was the first arc of the final saga
- Elbaf is the second final saga arc
The final part of the One Piece story began with the Egghead Arc, set on the Island of Science. There, Luffy and his crew met Vegapunk and learned surprising truths about the Void Century and where Devil Fruits came from. This arc was huge and featured important characters like Jewelry Bonney and Bartholomew Kuma. Many fans consider it a fantastic start to the final saga, but it was just a taste of what’s still to come.
Elbaf is the home of the Giants, a powerful warrior race who once ruled the New World. Shamrock Figarland insists that the World Government must control their strength, as revealed in his conversation with Gunko during the Elbaf Arc of One Piece.
I’ve been following One Piece closely, and while the truly epic conclusion hasn’t fully begun yet, the story is building incredible tension – more than ever before, honestly. It feels like things are about to explode once One Piece really dives into its final saga, which looks set to happen after the current arc, the Elbaf Arc. Eiichiro Oda, the creator, has actually described the battles happening now as just a warm-up for the massive war to come. A lot of fans are calling this the ‘Great War,’ and it seems like it’s going to start right after the Elbaf Arc finishes up.
After this current story arc concludes, One Piece is set to explore the deepest mysteries of its world and deliver its most epic battles yet, which is incredibly thrilling. Even more excitingly, Eiichiro Oda has revealed that the Straw Hat Pirates will journey to a significant location after the Elbaf Arc, a place potentially connected to the story’s ultimate finale. Many fans believe this destination could be Laugh Tale, the legendary hidden island discovered only by the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.
Eiichiro Oda’s Message Confirms The Final Arc Is Coming
Image by Rei Penber/ Game Rant Each year at Jump Festa, Eiichiro Oda shares news and previews of what’s coming for One Piece fans in the next year. This year, he announced that the live-action series will return for a third season and confirmed plans for a new movie. He also briefly mentioned the WIT Studio anime and the live-action series’ 2026 release.
Eiichiro Oda recently shared updates about the future of One Piece, particularly what to expect in 2026. He hinted at upcoming battles and character reunions, but the biggest news was his confirmation that the series will soon lead to an island that no pirate except the Pirate King has ever seen. Many believe this island is Laugh Tale, and it’s currently considered the most likely destination. This suggests the next story arc could be the one that takes the Straw Hats to the Final Island, potentially marking the beginning of the series’ final arc.
Now then, since it’s Jump Festa, let’s talk about the original Jump manga!
We finally come back to the present after a lengthy and detailed look into the past. Just as you begin to see Elbaf in a new light, the arc concludes with a spectacular climax, and from this point forward, the story becomes incredibly gripping.
Could this be the island only the Pirate King has ever found? A mysterious, flame-marked man makes his entrance! Two people who’ve never met before are about to cross paths – and it seems others are colliding as well! Will next year bring a huge number of unexpected meetings?
One Piece is moving incredibly fast, and while I focus on my health, I plan to continue releasing chapters at this rapid pace next year – consistently and with full energy! A big event is coming up, so please stay tuned!
Elbaf Will Open The Gateway To The End Of One Piece
Image by Rei Penber/ Game Rant It’s becoming increasingly obvious that the events in Elbaf towards the end of this story arc will set everything in motion for the climax of One Piece. Oda has hinted repeatedly that Elbaf will be where the Great War begins, and fans anticipate it’s happening soon. All the major players – the Revolutionary Army, the Holy Knights, and even Imu – are preparing for conflict, and the Straw Hats are more powerful than ever. This feels like the ideal moment for One Piece to enter its final saga and for the Straw Hats to pursue the island that only the Pirate King has ever reached.
The next island the crew reaches will likely be either Laugh Tale or Lodestar Island – both places only visited by the Pirate King in the past, which means things are about to get really intense. Either way, this upcoming arc marks the start of the final saga of One Piece, as the race to find the last Road Poneglyph begins. Ultimately, someone – most likely Luffy – will soon claim the One Piece treasure.
One Piece Could End By 2032
Image By Rei Penber/ Game Rant Eiichiro Oda has hinted that One Piece is approaching its conclusion. While there’s a possibility the final story arc could begin in 2026, it’s hard to say for sure. Oda isn’t always accurate when predicting timelines; in the past, events he expected to happen within a year or two have often taken three or four years to unfold. So, even if the Elbaf arc finishes in 2026 as he suggests, the series’ overall ending could still be further off than expected.
It’s unlikely we’ll see the story reach its final stages, or the last island visited only by the Pirate King, before 2026. Even if it does happen then, it will probably take Eiichiro Oda four to five years – or even longer – to finish the story. A realistic estimate for the end of One Piece is around 2032, though that’s already being quite optimistic for fans.
One Piece is a massive story with many unresolved plot lines and mysteries to unfold, meaning it will likely take Eiichiro Oda at least six or seven years to finish. This is good news for fans, as it means the story will continue for quite some time.
Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, One Piece, follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, on their adventure to find the legendary treasure, the One Piece. The story is currently in its final arc. The newest chapter, 1170, will be released in this week’s Weekly Shonen Jump on January 4, 2026. In Japan, it becomes available at midnight on Monday (11:00 AM Eastern Time, 8:00 AM Pacific Time). Fans can read it for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app, which directly supports the creator.
