But honestly, while Frieren is amazing, The Apothecary Diaries seems to be a massive hit in Japan – it’s unbelievably popular there, even if its MAL rating isn’t quite as high. It’s just reached a different level of cultural impact, it seems!
In Japan, The Apothecary Diaries has become a massive hit, becoming the most-streamed series of all time – even more popular than One Piece! The show’s main character, Maomao, was also a big winner, being named the best character of the year at the Grand Prix Awards.
