From the very beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was obvious that Yuji Itadori is the central character. Initially, his introduction to the world of curses felt a bit forced, but it’s come to feel much more natural as the story has progressed. Being Sukuna’s host puts a huge amount of pressure on Itadori; he constantly needs to stay strong-willed, because if he falters, Sukuna could take complete control, which would mean his demise.

Itadori has been a central character throughout the first two seasons of the anime. However, his role might change in the upcoming third season of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Yuta Okkotsu Is The Original Protagonist Of Jujutsu Kaisen

Near the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Yuta Okkotsu reappeared, tasked with confronting Itadori Yuji. This upcoming fight is highly anticipated because both characters have essentially served as the main focus of the story – Itadori currently, and Yuta in the prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Honestly, I think Yuta Okkotsu is secretly the true protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen! It’s not that I think Itadori is unimportant – far from it! – but it feels like Akutami had Yuta in mind as a potential main character from the start. He easily could have taken the story in that direction, and it would have been fascinating to see!

Yuta And Itadori Will Come Face-to-face In JJK Season 3

As we’ve seen in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Yuta officially made his entrance and was tasked with eliminating Itadori. Despite being classmates, Yuta doesn’t appear to be holding back against Itadori. This is especially worrying because Itadori is now vulnerable, as Gojo Satoru, his protector, has been sealed away by the villain, Kenjaku. Kenjaku meticulously planned to wear Gojo down before trapping him using a powerful artifact.

Kenjaku realized that eliminating Gojo Satoru would give him much more control. Gojo is the most powerful sorcerer alive and could easily defeat Kenjaku in a fight, so Kenjaku chose to seal him away. With Gojo out of the way, Kenjaku could act more freely, and the leaders of Jujutsu High could pursue their own goals, including eliminating Itadori Yuji. However, Itadori won’t go down without a fight against Yuta, promising an intense battle.

The Third Season Of JJK Will Change The Anime Industry

The upcoming battle between Itadori and Yuta is set to be a major event in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, but there’s much more to look forward to. The new season will adapt the Culling Game arc, introducing a wide range of both familiar and new, incredibly powerful sorcerers. Given Jujutsu Kaisen’s reputation for amazing fight scenes, fans can expect plenty of action in the third season.

JJK Season 3 Will Have A Lot Of New Characters

Season 3 will introduce many new characters, including Naoya Zenin, Kinji Hakari, Hajime Kashimo, and Hiromi Higuruma. This is just a small preview, though – expect to see even more new faces throughout the season.

One of the biggest highlights of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will undoubtedly be the stunning animation. MAPPA, the studio behind the adaptation, is known for its high-quality work, and this season promises to be no different. The only potential downside for fans is that the season will be split into two parts. Currently, only the first part is scheduled for release in January 2026, meaning viewers will have a considerable wait before seeing the conclusion. Hopefully, MAPPA will provide more details soon to ease fan anticipation.
