It’s Time To Say Goodbye To Jujutsu Kaisen’s Most Talented Sorcerer Forever

This article contains spoilers from JJK Modulo.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is becoming increasingly intense and is easily one of the most thrilling manga currently published in Weekly Shonen Jump. Creator Gege Akutami’s storytelling has improved, and Modulo may even surpass the original series in some respects. Currently, JJK Modulo features a remarkably intense fight between the newly crowned strongest character, Dabura, and Yuka Okkotsu, who wields the powerful Ten Shadows technique.

A major discussion is happening among fans of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo about what happened to Megumi Fushiguro. Since Yuka now possesses the Ten Shadows technique, many think Megumi is dead. However, his fate is more complex than just the transfer of this technique. The story has hinted at Megumi’s death for a while, and it’s very possible he died before Yuka gained the Ten Shadows.

Megumi Fushiguro Might Be Dead In JJK Modulo Already

  • Yuji’s Loneliness Is Connected To Megumi’s Disappearance
  • Megumi Fushiguro Wasn’t Sought Out During The Search For Yuji Itadori

Based on current developments in JJK Modulo, it’s highly probable that Megumi Fushiguro is dead. He hasn’t been seen at all in the mod, while Nobara Kugisaki did appear during the intense search for Yuji Itadori, suggesting a different fate for her.

Currently, Yuji Itadori possesses two cursed techniques. The Death Paintings, specifically from 4 to 9, have imprinted blood manipulation onto him. Additionally, his awakened Black Flash ability has unlocked Malevolent Shrine, a complete curse originally belonging to Ryomen Sukuna and now manifested within him. — Narrator on Yuji Itadori

Over time, Nobara and Yuji grew distant, and she even started calling him by his last name, a sign their relationship had cooled. The last time Nobara saw Yuji was at Hana’s funeral, where he sadly admitted he couldn’t bear to attend any more funerals due to the pain. After that, Yuji stopped contacting his friends and disappeared completely.

If Megumi Fushiguro were still alive, someone would definitely be seeking his advice right now. Considering his mastery of the Ten Shadows, he might have been Japan’s strongest hope against Dabura. Even if he was seriously injured, he could likely have used Mahoraga and performed better against Dabura than Yuka Okkotsu, despite being weakened.

Yuji’s Disappearance Hints At Megumi’s Death

The biggest hint that Megumi has died is Yuji Itadori’s complete withdrawal from everyone. He’s shut himself off because he’s overwhelmed with grief and doesn’t want to experience more loss. While fans already know Maki and Yuta Okkotsu are gone, and that’s undoubtedly devastating for Yuji, neither of them were his closest friend.

It was a long time ago, probably during the Edo or Keicho period—I can’t remember exactly. But the heads of the Gojo and Zenin families fought each other in public. Back then, the Gojo family was led by someone with the Six Eyes and a powerful, limitless cursed technique, just like me. And the Zenin family was led by a master of the Ten Shadows Technique, similar to you, Megumi. Do you understand what I’m getting at?

Throughout the main story of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji explicitly tells Megumi he’s his best friend, and confides that he’d be incredibly lonely without him. Yuji even cries at the thought of losing Megumi, which strongly suggests that Megumi is gone.

Yuji last attended Hana’s funeral, but the story strongly suggests a relationship between Hana and Megumi. Since Hana’s funeral was the final one Yuji went to, Megumi’s likely happened earlier. Following that were the funerals for Yuta and Maki, and then Hana’s death, which appears to have been the breaking point for Yuji.

If Yuji Itadori lost Megumi, it would be devastating for him – like losing the most important person in his life. That explains why he’s acting the way he is now.

Yuka Currently Has Access To The Ten Shadows Technique

Yuka Okkotsu’s cursed technique is also relevant to this discussion. Many fans have pointed out that Yuka shares the same technique as Megumi Fushiguro. While Yuka possessing ten Shadows doesn’t necessarily mean Megumi is dead – because multiple people can have the same cursed technique in the Jujutsu Kaisen world – the ability to summon Mahoraga is usually limited to a single user. This makes the situation particularly noteworthy.

Okay, so from what we’ve seen in JJK, it seems like different people can actually use the same cursed technique – we already know multiple sorcerers have used Blood Manipulation and Projection Sorcery, which is another Zenin family technique. But Mahoraga? That’s a whole different level. Honestly, a technique that powerful shouldn’t have multiple users. It’s seriously up there with the combination of Limitless and Six Eyes – it’s just too strong to be widely accessible!

As mentioned before, if Megumi had actually survived, even as an elderly man, he still could have summoned Mahoraga and used it against Dabura. He would have been a more suitable offering than Yuka, who had three months of life remaining.

It’s very likely that Megumi Fushiguro has died. While it’s still possible for both him and Yuka Okkotsu to survive, the fact that Yuji is currently alone and Yuka was used to fight Mahoraga strongly suggests Megumi is gone.

It’s really sad to say, but it looks like Megumi won’t be returning to the story. I know a lot of fans were hoping to see him again, and this will be a big disappointment for them. However, he’ll always be remembered as one of the best and most brilliant characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.

The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is currently being published in Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. It takes place 68 years after the Shinjuku Showdown arc, and follows Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki.
