It’s Time To Say Goodbye To The One Piece Manga For Now

One Piece is the best-selling manga series of all time, far surpassing any other. Even after 28 years, it continues to be incredibly popular. Recently, however, concerns have grown about the health of its creator, Eiichiro Oda. He’s had to take more frequent breaks, which worries his fans.

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, is taking more frequent breaks because his work is demanding and he needs adequate rest. A break began after the release of chapter 1168 today, December 7, 2025. The manga will resume with chapter 1169 in two weeks, on December 21, 2025, marking the final chapter released in 2025.

It’s become typical for One Piece fans to anticipate a break after every few chapters. Eiichiro Oda, the creator, often takes a week off after releasing 2 or 3 chapters, so after a recent run of particularly large chapters, fans expected – and weren’t surprised by – the news of a break week.

Today’s release of One Piece Chapter 1168 finally delivered the long-awaited core of the Elbaf flashback. This chapter also kicks off a two-week break for the series.

One Piece will be taking a break, with new chapters returning after December 7th. This pause will allow creator Eiichiro Oda to rest and prepare for future story developments.

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, clearly needs a rest. Fans observed that chapter 1168 felt hurried and contained several incomplete panels, suggesting he was under pressure and couldn’t finish it on schedule. Taking a break now is ideal for him.
