He himself has said that a school story about heroes wouldn’t feel realistic without them, even if finding time for romance within the main plot was difficult. While not a central focus, the romantic elements in My Hero Academia are engaging and add depth to the characters’ lives, whether it’s the connection between Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka, or other pairings. Horikoshi clearly enjoys exploring a number of different couples within the series’ world.

According to creator Kohei Horikoshi in the Ultra Age Fanbook, Shindo and Nakagame are dating. Plus, a My Hero Academia oneshot revealed that Kinoko and Shihai are a couple as well. Hopefully, we’ll get to see more of these relationships—and maybe even more new ones—confirmed in the future.
