It’s Time To Welcome The Next Marine Admirals In One Piece

This article contains spoilers for the One Piece series.

The world of One Piece is currently in disarray, and things are only expected to become more chaotic as the story reaches its climax. All the major groups are making their moves, and the world is on the verge of unprecedented changes. The Marines, one of the three most powerful organizations, are heavily involved in these events and will undergo significant transformations, particularly within their leadership, as the story concludes and a new era for the Navy begins.

The Admirals in One Piece have been reshuffled once after the timeskip, and it’s likely to happen again. Akainu will probably step down as Fleet Admiral, and the current Admirals – Fujitora, Green Bull, and Kizaru – will likely be replaced by a new wave of Marines, including characters like Koby.

Smoker Could Be The Next Fleet Admiral Of The Navy In One Piece

In the world of One Piece, the Fleet Admiral is the highest-ranking officer in the Marines. Before the two-year timeskip, Sengoku held this position, but he retired afterward. Akainu then became the new Fleet Admiral after winning a battle against Kuzan on Punk Hazard.

Akainu won’t remain Fleet Admiral for very long, even though he’s currently in charge. With the story’s final arc already underway, he’s destined for a major conflict – likely against pirates or the Revolutionary Army. Ultimately, his harsh form of justice won’t fit into the new world order that emerges after the coming war. Someone, possibly Luffy or Sabo, will likely seek revenge for his past actions, including the death of Ace. Once Akainu is defeated, a truly just Marine should take his place, and while many fans hope it’s Koby, it appears Oda intends for Smoker to become the next Fleet Admiral.

Koby, Prince Grus, and Tashigi Could Become The Next Admirals

Akainu isn’t the only Marine Admiral facing replacement. Fujitora, Kizaru, and Green Bull are also likely to step down, or won’t survive the upcoming final war. The Marines are preparing for a new generation to take leadership roles and steer the organization towards genuinely helping people. Besides Smoker, the most promising candidates from this new generation are Koby, Tashigi, and potentially either Prince Grus or Helmeppo. Though they aren’t powerful enough yet, they’re expected to gain significant strength during the final arc of One Piece.

A New Marine Order Will Be Established In One Piece

As the biggest war in the One Piece world approaches, many fans are questioning whether the Marines will survive or be disbanded, similar to what happened with the Shichibukai. However, the Marines will make it through this final saga. While the organization will undergo significant changes and be rebuilt, it won’t be destroyed. Even after major villains like Imu are defeated, the world won’t achieve lasting peace; smaller threats will always remain. This means the Marines will still be necessary, and a new leadership team – potentially including figures like Dragon and Sabo – could finally allow them to effectively protect people.

One Piece will have a break next week, and a new chapter (Chapter 1166) will be released on November 23, 2025. Fans can read it for free on Manga Plus.
