Jabul Waters Rift Quest Walkthrough Echoes of Wisdom

Jabul Waters Rift Quest Walkthrough Echoes of Wisdom

As a seasoned adventurer who’s braved countless dungeons and rifts, let me tell you that the Stilled Jabul Waters is no walk in the park. But fear not, for with a bit of strategy and some old-school platforming skills, you’ll find yourself standing before the grandiose Jabul Ruins.

At the beginning of “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” Zelda faces a dilemma – to venture into the desert and tackle the Gerudo Sanctum dungeon, or travel east to assist the Zora in Jabul Waters. Both paths are viable, as each location presents distinct advantages. Whichever path you select, it’s essential to finish both locations before proceeding further. This guide will concentrate on “Jabul Waters,” offering a detailed walkthrough of the main quest titled “The Jabul Waters Rift.

How to Start The Jabul Waters Rift in Echoes of Wisdom

Previously discussed, upon finishing “The Mysterious Rift” in the game “Echoes of Wisdom”, I’ll be tasked with a significant decision: to venture into the Gerudo Desert or the enchanting Jabu Waters.

Once you encounter this option, the “Everyone’s Search” main mission will be accessible to you. Similar to other games in the Zelda series, this mission acts as a sort of guide, with multiple smaller missions gradually advancing it. The quests for Jabul Waters and Gerudo Desert are part of the larger “Everyone’s Search” category.

As you make your way to the Seesyde Village fast-travel spot, indicated on your map, a short cutscene will play introducing the Jabul Waters region. After the cutscene ends, Tri and Zelda will have a quick conversation. Following this interaction, you’ll receive a notification that the main quest “The Jabul Waters Rift” has begun. To gather essential information about the area, converse with the two NPCs located on the beach.

The Jabul Waters Rift Part One – Echoes of Wisdom

Visit Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Den:

In “The Jabul Waters Rift,” your initial objective is to locate the lair of the local god, who goes by the name Lord Jabu-Jabu. The people you’ve interacted with have mentioned that this deity has been causing chaos in the area, and it’s believed that its lair might be near the massive fissure found in the region.

Lord Jabu-Jabu’s den is found just north of a location called Crossflows Plaza. This is an extremely important location for “The Jabul Waters Rift.” Head east from Seesyde Village, across a small wooden bridge, to find the plaza. You’ll notice the stone steps and large pool of water. Head north through the water and you’ll encounter the den entrance, which is partially swallowed by a massive rift.

Step inside the hideout and find yourself facing two raised areas, along with a closed door. As you explore, you’ll meet two River Zoras. They inform you that only by getting both Zora chiefs to play music simultaneously can you unlock the door. This hints at your next move: pay a visit to each Zora village in turn.

The Jabul Waters Rift Part Two – Echoes of Wisdom

Visit River Zora Village:

Your upcoming task involves traveling northwards where you will encounter Dradd, the leader of the River Zora Tribe. The village can be found northwest of Crossflows Plaza and is hard to overlook due to its distinct location. Follow the main path within the town towards the large tent positioned in the northwestern corner. That’s where you will find Dradd residing.

Step into the tent for a chat with Dradd. Despite appearing preoccupied, he may eventually make his way to Crossflows Plaza of his own accord. Once Dradd has departed from the tent, your following action should be heading towards Sea Zora Village.

Visit Sea Zora Village:

Return to Zora Cove and venture out towards the sea. Your destination is a tiny island, identifiable by a massive fishtail jutting from the water’s surface.

Here lies the underwater entrance to Sea Zora Village, nestled on the south coast of the island.

Step into Sea Zora Village first, then proceed to the back area within it. There you’ll discover Kushara’s chambers. Similar to Dradd, she may spontaneously decide to travel to Crossflows Plaza and make an attempt to soothe Lord Jabu-Jabu.

As I, Zelda, step back into Crossflow’s Plaza, I witness two rivals trying to play music and appease their deity. However, it seems their melodies are more of a cacophony than soothing tunes. Jabu-Jabu, clearly displeased by the noise, storms out of the plaza, filled with wrath, and heads north towards the River Zora Village.

The Jabul Waters Rift Part Three – Echoes of Wisdom

Chaos at Upper Zora River:

When the wrath of Lord Jabu-Jabu ensues, Zelda will find herself needing to aid both Zora villages in their recovery. This mission can be broken down into two primary tasks. The initial task is set at the Zora River Village and involves mending a minor tear in the river called the “Calmed Upper Zora River”.

Upon arriving at Zora River Village, look for the gap in the stone wall hidden behind the ruined tents. This pathway takes you to the rift’s entrance. Inside the rift, your objective is to rescue Tri’s companions, a task that will grant Tri a partial power boost and award Zelda with two Might Crystals to enhance her Swordfighter Form. As the mission concludes, Dradd will witness Kushara using her melodies to calm the waters of River Zora, paving the way for future reconciliation.

Rampage in Zora Cove:

Following “Chaos on Upper Zora River,” navigate your way back to Zora Cove. From the village entrance, start moving eastward and you’ll soon be momentarily halted for a short cutscene. This will trigger “Zora Cove Rampage,” a compact side-mission.

Glancing at the provided map, your destination lies on a small island northeast of Sea Zora Village. Upon arrival, you’ll find Dradd who can’t access the cave entrance above water. Instead, you must swim through the underwater entrance located to the right and remove any obstructions from inside.

Step into the cavern, where you’ll find yourself navigating a two-dimensional underwater world. Despite its darkness, there are bioluminescent plants that light up as you swim among them. The main peril here comes from Level 2 Tanglers, although even Level 1 Tanglers can be handled with ease. As you progress, you’ll encounter a Treasure Chest right before exiting the cave.

  • Treasure Chest 1: Bubble Kelp x 10.

Leaving the 2D part of the cave takes you deep into its interior where you find Kushara and a child Sea Zora who is trapped. Use Bind to shift the obstruction and make your getaway. As the quest concludes, Kushara observes as Dradd employs his melodies to empower the young boy, enabling him to break free.

Dradd and Kushara now agree to return to Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Den and play music together.

How to Defeat Lord Jabu-Jabu in Echoes of Wisdom

Open Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Chamber:

After coming back to Lord Jabu-Jabu’s lair, Zelda’s initial task is to mend the stages where the chieftains will perform. Initially, she will employ the Bind ability to shift the boulders off the stages.

Next, retrieve the two broken platform pieces – one located next to the platform and the other in the pool of water on the southwest side of the room. To collect them, you’ll have to get into the water, grab the second piece using Bind, then swim to the surface and jump out. The piece should follow Zelda as she exits the water.

After reassembling the stages, Dradd and Kushara will take their turn to perform. This action will trigger the opening of the long-awaited door leading to Lord Jabu-Jabu’s private chamber. Now, it’s Zelda’s time to gear up for a challenging boss battle.

Fight Lord Jabu-Jabu:

Lord Jabu-Jabu’s attack style is quite straightforward. Initially, it unleashes Level 1 Tanglers and a mix of debris from its belly.

After that, it will orbit around the chamber, filled mostly with water but littered with debris it expelled, attempting to lunge at Zelda. At this point, Zelda has limited options for counterattack. Instead, it’s wiser to concentrate on defeating the Tanglers and avoiding harm.

After the creature completes its orbit in the arena, it’ll inhale a massive burst of air, drawing everything nearby into itself. The moment you observe the air being sucked in, call forth a Bombfish. When the colossal sea turtle named Lord Jabu-Jabu ingests a Bombfish, it explodes within its body, causing harm and emitting energy bubbles. Additionally, the turtle will become momentarily vulnerable. This cycle continues for phase one.

Lord Jabu-Jabu Phase 2:

During the second stage, Lord Jabu-Jabu will unleash additional formidable foes such as Octoroks and electric jellyfish called Biri. The assault pattern becomes increasingly fierce, with the enemy moving around the arena in a more erratic manner and swinging wildly.

The attack strategy for Zelda remains the same. Use Bombfish when it sucks in air. However, now you should use Swordfighter Form after a Bombfish explodes in its stomach. This will take out Lord Jabu-Jabu incredibly quickly. In normal mode, we only had one attack cycle before the fight ended.

The Jabul Waters Rift Part Four – Echoes of Wisdom

Stilled Jabul Waters:

Just before reaching the Jabul Ruins dungeon lies the tranquil expanse known as the Silent Jabul Waters fissure. This area, while simple in layout, holds great significance, introducing a crucial element, the Water Barrier, which is discovered around midway.

Follow the primary trail until you get to a spot where pillars are submerged horizontally. At this point, you can climb onto the accumulated ancient sediment platforms to access the upper water level. The next water section will lead you to the peak of the platform.

Start at the beginning, move eastward past another reservoir. Once you reach the end of the reservoir, you’ll encounter the Water Block Echo, ready for you to master. Proceed further and employ this new Water Block to ascend the next water barrier. Upon reaching the top of the barrier, head left, utilizing the Water Block again to traverse gaps.

Keep an eye out for multiple hidden foes, don’t hesitate to employ the Swordfighter Technique since many of these concealed adversaries will drop energy. Upon reaching the western trail’s end, you’ll come across a tiny floating island with a solitary patch of water. If you continue along that path, you’ll discover a Fairy enclosed within a container at the bottom.

Begin ascending the next water barrier using Water Blocks to leap over any voids. Should you venture in an easterly direction, you’ll come across a capsized ship. If you scale this ship and follow the route to its peak, it will direct you to a solitary treasure chest filled with ten Rivershorses.

  • Treasure Chest 2: Riverhorse x10

Return to the waterfall and ascend it all the way to the summit. Once you’re at the summit, proceed westward to discover another treasure chest.

  • Treasure Chest 3: Purple Rupee (50)

Follow the eastern path backwards until you spot the true Lord Jabu-Jabu serving as a bridge. Cross over it to reach the Jabul Ruins, which lie within the dungeon area.

The Jabul Ruins dungeon falls under the larger “Jabul Waters Rift” main mission, but without a shadow of a doubt, it warrants its separate guide. Dive into our comprehensive guide on the Jabul Ruins dungeon for a detailed journey through its depths.
