January 2025 Will Be Huge for PlayStation Fans on PC

As a lifelong gamer who grew up with a PlayStation controller in my hands, I can hardly contain my excitement as two of my all-time favorite games are finally making their way to PC! It feels like a dream come true to know that I’ll soon be able to play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on my own terms, without needing a console.

Final Fantasy 7 has been a staple of my gaming life since I was a kid, and the remake was nothing short of magical. To now have the opportunity to revisit Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and the rest of the crew in a PC version is beyond words. And let’s not forget about Spider-Man 2, which has always been a game I’ve wished I could play on my PC setup.

I remember waiting for hours to get my hands on the original PlayStation games back in the day, and now I can’t believe that I’ll be able to jump into these worlds whenever I want, without having to worry about console exclusivity. It’s a true testament to how far gaming has come.

And just think about it – no more fighting with my brother over who gets to play what game! We can each have our own version of the games on our own PCs, and we won’t have to worry about whose turn it is. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved!

I can hardly wait for January 23 (Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth) and January 30 (Marvel’s Spider-Man 2). I’ll be ready with my gaming chair, controller, and snacks – it’s going to be an epic month of gaming! And who knows, maybe I’ll even have time to beat both games before the next console generation rolls around. Just remember, I called it first!

Oh, and don’t forget to bring a change of underwear for all the button-mashing you’re about to do!

Over the past few years, PlayStation has maintained a steady approach in its strategy for PC releases. Starting with Horizon Zero Dawn in 2020, PlayStation has gradually been making its exclusive first-party titles available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Games like Uncharted, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Last of Us, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and even Days Gone have all been ported to PC.

Over the past year, both “God of War Ragnarok” and “Helldivers 2” have made their way to personal computers. Notably, “Helldivers 2” debuted on PC simultaneously with its console version, indicating a growing trend for live-service games to launch concurrently on PC and PS5. This multiplatform approach seems to be a permanent strategy for PlayStation, as two more ports are set to follow in the coming months before their scheduled January releases.

Two Huge PlayStation Ports Are Coming to PC in January 2025

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Makes The Journey to PC on January 23

This month at The Game Awards, it was revealed that “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” will be released on both Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 23, 2025. For those who haven’t experienced it yet, “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” is the sequel to the 2020 release of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake,” which serves as the initial installment of a modern retelling of the 1997 classic game.

In “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth,” you’ll join Cloud Strife, Tifa, Barret, Aerith, and their comrades from Avalanche in a quest to track down Sephiroth, the enigmatic figure armed with Masamune, who caused destruction at Shinra’s headquarters at the conclusion of the previous game. This journey will take you through various exciting locations such as the Grasslands beyond Midgar, Cosmo Canyon, Costa del Sol, and other captivating destinations, allowing for some open-world exploration along the way.

As a dedicated PC gamer with a top-tier rig, I can’t wait to immerse myself in the stunning visuals of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth at an astounding 120 FPS! With the help of NVIDIA DLSS, I’ll not only get a boost in image quality but also in framerate. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, Square Enix is working diligently to optimize Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for Steam Deck, so fingers crossed that we’ll be able to enjoy a verified version of the game on this portable powerhouse soon!

Purchasing “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” for your PC prior to its release date on January 23, 2025 grants you a convenient 30% discount on the regular price.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is also coming to PC next year, set to release on April 3, 2025.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Swings Onto PC on January 30

Approximately a week following the PC debut of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the much-anticipated game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, will make its entrance. Already accessible through Steam and the Epic Games Store, the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for a PC release on January 30, allowing players to progress the storyline, last updated in 2020 with Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, gamers take on the roles of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who are New York City’s two web-slinging superheroes. As these spider-clad heroes, players will be tasked with halting Kraven and his gang of hunters from wreaking havoc in the city and among its residents. Additionally, they will encounter Venom, a formidable adversary who doesn’t give up easily.

The team responsible for bringing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to PC is Nixxes Software, who have also handled the previous two Spider-Man PC ports, as well as most PlayStation PC port projects over the past two years. Although Nixxes hasn’t given specific details about performance improvements, they have hinted at “improved ray tracing options” and other “enhanced features” for the PC version of Spider-Man 2.
