The Friend-Making Battle event starting January 3 is just the boost I needed to kick off my New Year’s resolutions. With new characters like Raihan and Poppy joining the fray, I can’t wait to see how they’ll shake up the Masters League.

The story featuring these two trainers in their “New Year’s 2025” variants sounds intriguing, especially since we don’t know yet whether Pokemon Trainer Blossom will be a support or field sync pair. I’m already envisioning the strategies I could use with her and Kirlia on my team!

I love the fact that the game regularly updates with new characters and events, making it feel fresh even months after its release. First introduced in August 2019 as Pokemon Masters, the upgraded version, Pokemon Masters EX, unites numerous iconic Pokemon Trainers under one roof for the Masters League. In this league, trainers team up with their preferred Pokemon to form sync pairs and engage in 3-on-3 battles within a global tournament, aiming to be crowned the best trainer. This encourages players to build teams around trainers and foster friendships as they work towards becoming champions. The game consistently adds new Pokemon Trainers, reimagined versions of beloved characters, and monthly events to keep the excitement going. The latest Friend-Making Battle event marks another year of ongoing support for Pokemon Masters EX.

The “Pokemon Masters EX” Friendship Battle event kicks off on Friday, January 3 at 1:00 a.m. EST. This event will introduce new characters – Raihan from “Pokemon Sword and Shield” on the 3rd and Poppy from “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet” on the 4th. These trainers, Raihan and Poppy, will be available as seasonal sync pair scouts until January 21 at 12:59 a.m. EST. During this period, Raihan, partnered with Sandaconda, acts as a Ground-type support sync pair that can create sandstorms and boost allies’ evasiveness. Poppy, along with her Pokemon Steelix, forms a Steel-type field sync pair that can establish a Steel Zone upon entering battle and lower opponents’ attack and special attack while raising allies’ defense and special defense.

Pokemon Masters EX Friend-Making Battle Event Begins on January 3

The Friendship Contest event in Pokemon Masters EX introduces a fresh narrative starring Raihan and Poppy as they engage in a cordial tournament. Finishing the event’s tale awards players with Pokemon Trainer Blossom (Furisode Girl), who teams up with Kirlia. Whether Blossom and Kirlia create a support or field sync pair is yet to be determined.

Prior to the start of the New Year’s Rally 2025 event in Pokemon Masters EX, players can log into the game to collect free rewards. In line with previous events in this game, daily login rewards consist of up to 5,000 free Gems for each player until January 12 at 12:59 a.m. EST. The total distribution of Gems amounts to 20 million, which will be distributed to the entire community before January 9 at 12:59 a.m. EST. Players who have logged in by January 9 will receive their portion of Gems as a “New Year’s Gem Present” in their Present Box from January 14 onwards. Additionally, all players who log in before January 16 at 12:59 a.m. EST will be given Brand New Year Tickets. These tickets can be exchanged at the Brand New Year Ticket Exchange for move candy coins and roll cake coins.
