Jared Padalecki Gets Nervous About Reuniting with Supernatural Co-Stars on The Boys!

Summary

  • Stars from Supernatural reunite on The Boys’ fifth and final season
  • Jared Padalecki expresses anxiety over his role in the Supernatural-Boys crossover.
  • The Boys/Supernatural crossover is extensive with many former cast members making appearances.

The much-beloved sci-fi hit Supernatural officially went off the air on November 19, 2020. Alas, its stars are reuniting on one of Prime Video’s biggest hits and one of them seems a bit anxious about the whole endeavor.

When the fifth (and supposedly final) season of The Boys hits Prime Video later this year, its cast will be larger than ever. In addition to franchise mainstays like Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, and Erin Moriarty, a host of new faces are joining the superhero series. To start, Daveed Diggs—star of Hamilton, Snowpiercer, and Black-ish, among many others—has joined the season in an undisclosed main role. Then there is Mason Dye, of Stranger Things and Teen Wolf fame, joining the proceedings as Bombsight, a hero with superhearing abilities. And finally, both Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have signed on for a Supernatural reunion-of-sorts with their old co-star Jensen Ackles (who plays Soldier Boy on the show).

During the 2025 Texas Film Awards, Padalecki told Business Insider about his upcoming stint on The Boys with former Supernatural co-stars Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins. “I don’t know a whole lot about it, which is effing terrifying. I don’t know what we’re doing. I don’t know if we like, bump into each other. I don’t know much about it. They’re still trying to write and figure out who’s gonna be there. But, it’ll be the end of this month.” Padalecki went on to mention that series creator Eric Kripke reached out to him about showing up on The Boys. “He’s like, ‘Hey, you wanna come play?’ I’m like, ‘Yes, I think?’ …it’s f***king terrifying for me.”

Jared Padalecki Seems To Be Fretting The Supernatural-Boys Reunion A Bit

It’s understandable that Padalecki would be a bit apprehensive about reuniting with his Supernatural co-stars, not that the trio isn’t in good hands. Padalecki, Ackles, and Collins all spent numerous years of their lives on the long-running CW show that The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke also created. If anyone knows how to get the best out of that particular acting group, it’s Kripke. Assuming Padalecki is being 100% honest about not knowing exactly what his role is on The Boys, that would cause anyone to be a bit anxious. Imagine not knowing what you’re going to be doing when going into work, despite millions of people anxiously awaiting to see what you do there. It’s enough to make the hairs stand up on someone’s neck.

Padalecki, Ackles, and Collins aren’t the only Supernatural stars to show their faces on The Boys. Everyone from Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jim Beaver to Alvina August and Christian Keyes has appeared on Amazon’s hit superhero series. In some ways, The Boys has felt like one long Supernatural reunion special thanks to Kripke’s inclination to bring actors aboard that he has worked with before. Now, around five years after Supernatural ended its fifteen-year run, its three main characters are reuniting and fans couldn’t be happier. Well, they might be happier if a Supernatural sequel show ever materialized…

The Boys is available to stream on Prime Video.
