Summary
- Daredevil: Born Again expands the MCU’s offerings with a darker tone.
- Krysten Ritter could be the next hero to join the franchise, based on her move to NYC.
- There’s still a ton of interest in old Netflix favorites joining the MCU.
The highly anticipated series “Daredevil: Born Again” is nearly ready to debut on Disney+, promising a more somber and rugged atmosphere than the Marvel Cinematic Universe has previously explored, and recent developments hint at which additional fan-favorite character from the Netflix era of Marvel TV shows could join the franchise next.
For ardent admirers of Charlie Cox’s character from the hit Netflix series “Daredevil”, the announcement of the comeback of this character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been eagerly awaited. The original show, which paved the way for several other Marvel series on the streaming platform and culminated in the joint miniseries “The Defenders”, had left fans yearning for a reunion. Although it’s yet to be confirmed if the other heroes from Cox’s past TV adventures will join him, the vague hints dropped by Kevin Feige about possible involvement of other Defenders characters have kept hope alive among fans.
Lately, whispers suggest that Cox may team up with one of his Defenders comrades earlier than fans anticipate, and it seems increasingly plausible that Krysten Ritter’s beloved character Jessica Jones could be the first to do so. As reported by Krysten Ritter Updates on X, the actress has shared that she will be spending some time in New York City as per an Instagram story post. This news coincides with Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, disclosing in an interview that filming for the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again” would commence the following day… you guessed it, in New York City. While some speculate she is there for “Dexter: Resurrection,” it’s just as possible that she’s in the city for “Daredevil,” given she was only recently added to the cast and most of the current, brief cast list signed on in January.
It’s significant to point out that Ritter, who plays Jessica Jones, has openly expressed her readiness and eagerness to fully participate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). She’s even hinted at her role on Instagram with subtle references, such as her outfit or hairstyle choices. This is more than fans have seen from the other two potential returnees, Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist), who haven’t been as forthcoming about their interest in returning to the MCU as Ritter has. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Colter and Jones are unwilling to rejoin the series; they simply haven’t shown the same level of enthusiasm as Ritter.
For Daredevil: Born Again season two, there’s an established release timeline and optimism behind the scenes that the series could continue into a third season, or possibly even more. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to discover whether Charlie Cox or another Netflix-era star will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Ritter might. Regardless of who takes the lead, it’s an encouraging sign for the future of the original franchise, and fans can anticipate an entire season of Born Again in the meantime.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
